    update on pec injury

I strained my pec 2 weeks ago and used ice ice ice and motrin, 800mg three times a day. Swelling went down, soreness is almost gone, only hurts when i press on it and even then not bad pain. have not benched since then. Question is-now i have an indentation at the injury site, does that mean it was partially torn or what? any ideas on what the indentation is?

That is what I was afraid u would say. If it is a partial tear is there anything besides time that can be done. What I am asking is if it is partial tear will it help me to get well faster by getting an mri or will i just have the answer and wont have to guess on what it is.

the mri will tell you if you have a tear or if you don't, it will let you know how bad it is and what options you may have to treat the condition, it is just a diagnostic test, but what it reveals will dictate what treatment is rt for the injury. doesn't sound that bad, any bruising near the site?

There was no visible bruising and pain did not last more than about 3 days, i was icing it all the time and it really feels good right now, just wondering about the identation. I am still not benching but can do most other exercises. this gives me more time to work my back, damn it. hate back work. ha

If I had to do that for 2 weeks it might occur to me I needed to see a specialist.

at my age if i ran to Dr. every time i had a bad ache or pain, i would be going every morning when i get out of bed. i see u are not a kid either but i am alot older than u and still lifting decent weights. if the pain doesnt hinder my everyday activities i give it some time to see how it goes. my health insurance for retirement is not very good, high deductible, so i only go to Dr when all other avenues are exhaused. i do get regular blood work done but get it done in lab that gives results to me and i interpret. Thanks for your concern.

keep me posted. no bruising is a good sign. sounds like it may be a small grade 1 tear or grade 2 at the worst. need an mri to be certain if there is a tear at all
