New member 40 year old guy

    Hello All,
I have had this web site in my favorites for over a year and never signed up. I just used to look at the drug profiles. The other day I started looking around realized how good a site this was. Better late then never.
I started competing at 38 years of age 2 years ago. This pic
was from my first show as a middle weight 165#. 5'7"
22 guys in my class and I finished 3rd. I was hooked from that day forward. 11 shows later I still love competing. I have won my class many times since that first show however it will always be the show I remember the most.
This spring I'm hoping I'll still be able to stay under the 176# mark
and compete one last season as a middle weight.
Any questions please feel free to ask.
    Thanks,
    kdtl61

Hey Jason this guy should have VET status very soon.

Are you doing any upcoming shows bro? What is your routines and training schedule like? How often do you cycle if ever?

Wow ! You people are too kind. Thank you for all your positive
comments. Here is a little history on myself with another pic from this past fall 2001 season. (if it loads)
I didn't start weight training till I was 30 years old. I blew a disc
out in my back playing soft ball. So, the Doc. said get in shape or I'll have to cut you.
I started training at home with some very basic equipment you know the plastic shit. I must have spent the first 5 years learning and spinning my wheels on how to train correctly. Once I started hitting one body part per day, eating higher calories, and making weight traning part of my lifestyle I started to see change. I used to stop training in the summer because of outside events,
softball, lawn work, gardening you name it. I was dealing with a 4 month set back each year. Hard to progress that way.
Cycle history: First one ever spring 1997. 200 mg cyp week for 10 weeks. I grew like a weed in my garden. 25# I think. I have kept learning about cycles and what is safe and what is not. I bulk once a year for 6 to 8 weeks. Then off for the same time and go into a cut cycle. Then it's show time.
I'm one of those guys that believe in moderation in everything.
Here is my last bulk cycle it is also the most I have run at one time ever.
250 sust every 5 days for first 4 weeks (first half of bulk)
250 sust every week for the 2nd 4 week.
300 deca once a week for 10 weeks
if I have anavar i'll run 30mg a day through out.
NO dbol tried it don't like the extra bloat.
    10mg Nolvadex day
    2000mg Vit C a day
    Multi Vit
    500mg Milk thistle a day
Calories: I try to hit 4000 a day with clean and junk food.
When I bulk I'm very happy with a net net lean muscle weight gain or 3 or 4 pounds.
Here is my weight change since I started competing
165# Spring 2000 Pic at the top of this thread
    170# Spring 2001 shows
173# Fall of 2001 shows (If there is a pic on this page i'm 173#)
Now it is Spring 2002. First show is Pittsburgh May 4th.
I'm not so sure right now if I can get back to 176# max to still me a middle weight. Today I'm 184#.
OK I have run on long enough.
If you want to know about my cutting cycles and diet just ask.
I'm a BIG believer in DIET and CARDIO.
I still train at home 4 nights a week. Sundays I train legs with some big boys.
I could not open my zip file of some pics from this past fall. If you can help reformat them I will send them to you and you can post for me. They were taken out side between pre-judging and finals. Hope this info was helpful to some of you.
    Thanks,
    kdtl61
No cardio during bulk for me. Yet I might re think this next time.

EXACTLY... I agree with more moderate steriod use, you can get excellent gains.

    ONCE AGAIN WELL DONE!

May I ask what else you ran with your gear ? Any anti-e's?
    Just curious!

    Thx,
    Nate

    Nate,
The only anti-e is 10mg/day nolvadex . I run this all the way out with my deca . Plus I'll go to 2 or 3 weeks clomid.

Here is my cutting cycle: I think very little usage.
I start my diets 12 weeks out from the first show in my schedule.
200mg/EQ per week for the first 6 weeks
100mg/primo per week for all 12 weeks
20 or 30mg of anavar ** a day (just like having it in there)
I might keep 10mg/day of nolvadex
At 6 weeks out i'll up the EQ to 250 or 300 per week through the shows.
I'll start the winny EOD 6 weeks out through the shows.
I have never cut out oil. This is the first year I'm thinking about doing it. However doing as many shows as I do I might lose some mass. I could use some help on this topic.

Here is a quick starting diet for me:
    7:00 8 egg whites 1 serving oats
    9:30 1 1/2 cans tuna 5oz potato
12:00 6 oz chicken cup of broc
    2:00 50 gram protein pudding
    4:00 1 1/2 cans tuna 5 oz potato
    5:30 train at home
6:30 8 egg whites with 3 or 4 oz potato
    9:00 50 gram protein pudding
3 table spoons of flax seed oil split am/pm
    total calories around 2600
cardio 5 morning 30 minutes some time 7 morning

The goal in dieting is to keep as much muscle as possible.
You must keep your body anabolic at the same time burn more calories then you take in. I try very hard not to get caught up in the more is better idea when it comes to gear. Always remember this is for FUN. I don't want it to be life or death for me. Life goes on no matter what the judges say.
I find keeping your training up, cardio up and good clean eating you will reach your goals. (my cheat food animal crackers)
I'm shocked everything I see the photo at the top of this page.
I have 3 other brothers that have the same genes as me yet they will never look like that pic.
I have been married to my biggest fan for 20 years this May.
She makes so much of this possible for me. I write up the diets and she makes it happen. She pose me, paints me cheers me on.
She knows how to keep me in my head and fire me up at the same time. I hear so many sad stories about couples that break up all the time over the guy competing. When I got into training so many years ago I made the choice then to train at home so I was only 20 stairs away at any time.
I could go on and on with how great a girl she is. I'm just lucky she said yes 20 years ago to me.

OK I'm a sap sorry to keep going on.
    Train on my friends,
    kdtl61

Not only a great attitude but also a very lucky man. You and your wife learned that this game (bodybuilding )is better with team work.

Good luck and happy aniversary (in May).

Thanks BigGunz for taking the time to post these pics for me.

These pics were taken outside the Hotel we were staying at in Pittsburgh this past Sept. I freaked when I first saw them. The colors are so bright and clear. I could see people looking out the hotel windows at me like "what the hell is that?".

Thanks for all the kind words.

I had a good spring competing this year.
I won 2 out of 3 of the shows I entered. One of them I won the overall.
The week after that I was told by the head judge that I got second to the overall winner in that show. All of this at the age of 40 I'll be 41 in Oct.. I compete in the open mens class as a middle weight. Around 173# 3 or 4% BF.
I'm getting ready for two fall shows. The OHIO and the Pittsburgh pro/am. Fitness pros and amature BB. This fall should be the last time I compete as a middle weight. I plan on taking 15 months off from the stage. I have found the last two years competing in the spring and fall
I can't seem to put on any muscle. I keep what I got just can't seem to grow dieting almost 30 weeks out of the year. Go figure.
I'm not willing to abuse anything to grow. I will use to give me the edge and make up the gains with more size on me so I can keep up the heavy training for a longer period of time.
I'm 8 weeks out from the Ohio. I'm at 185#. I will guess I have 5# of water on me about 6/7% BF. So, you can see I'm in striking distance big time. I got ride of all the FAT this past spring. I didn't go over board this summer in my 2 month off season. I train with another guy that put on 30# again. He is looking at me now like shit dude you are right on. Yet he has to kill himself with cardio, hard dieting etc to get back to his comp weight. Maybe he will learn? Like I did in the spring.
Any how if you have any question on my diet etc just ask. There are no secrets here.

    Keep up your training,

    kdtl61
