its good ur lookin to get in shape, i wouldnt suggest a crash diet. u should go on the diet forum and read the cutting stickies. also six days in the gym isnt necassary, spread out each muscle group in a 4 or 5 day split. ex. chest/tri's.... back/bi's shoulders/traps ...legs. next all that cardio isnt nesacarry either, do 40 mins on a bike and 20-25 mins running both at medium pace in the morning on EMPTY stomach. read the forums and what they have to offer. theres alot of smart people that know what there talkin about. good luck and welcome to the forum

Props for deciding to take control of your body and get healthy. Diet is the key to losing weight. But there are alot of other factors that will help you shift it. When you go to the gym you need to start lifting some weights as well as doing cardio. The more lbm (lean body mass) you have, then the faster your metabolism will be and the faster you can burn off the fat. As lubricatsi (sp?) above me said check out the workout and diet forums.

Yea man, stick with it, its good to know you are wanting to make a change. LIke others have said, go to the diet forum and read the cutting stickies there...this is where you should probably spend most of your time. As far as your workout plan, I would still lift at least 3 days a week, so that you will gain some muscle (muscle is what helps you burn more fat). Also, I would do cardio first thing in the morning when you wake up on an empty stomach at least 5 days a week. It shouldn't be hard for you to gain muscle and lose fat at the same time considering you have never wokred out before. ....GOOD LUCK BRO!!!!!

thanks for all your replys and help, i really wish it was possible to go to the gym first thing in the morning on an empty stomach which i have heard from several people but its pretty much close to impossible to do it every day w/ my work sched. the gym is 20 mins away from my house not really a morning person either the only good thing about the gym is it is open 24/7, i'll have to see if i can start waking up 2 hours earlier, we'll see what happens

As someone who used to weigh a lot more than they do now I can certainly feel your pain. If there's anything I can do to help shoot me a PM. You can do it, I'm living proof. Mark

Go to the diet forum and run a search or, buy a book on "The Atkin's Diet".

The main thing for you right now is proper diet, cardio and exercise...
Out of the 3 diet should be your main focus... You might want to
post up exactly what diet got you that way and also what diet you
plan on using to help you reach your goals so you can get feedback
on what to do and what not to do...

    Good luck

man that brave but I respect that a lot.
U know there a good book called body for life.
It not bad, talk about eatting food 6 times a day so u are never starving.
Plus I think a goal of 3 years is reasonable and relistic.

Not only is eating 6-8 times per day better for surpressing your appetite, but it is a LOT better for your metabolism... not as much fat gets stored, your metabolism runs higher all day, your body doesnt think its starving so its more inclined to drop weight... etc.
