Hey all! please look at me and help!!
Well you guys, this is me now, i have been working out now for about 2 weeks so im a genuine newbie! i was suppose to get serious about lifting almost a year ago....atleast i said i was going to but here it is a year later and i ook the same. ...I know its sad but i just got out of college My father never let me touch weights but here i am ready and determined to go big. AS of right now im 5'8 172 pounds all natural..never took protein or vitamins or none of that. I just went out to GNC earlier today and purchased whey protein, and a multi vitamin. I want to keep everyone posted and i pray i have a solid transformation since my body is fresh. Can anyone please critique my pictures and tell me what i need to work on the most? Thanks so much!!! Can i expect any gains with-in three months? I also coach a wrestling team and its lots of cardio but i dont wanna go smaller what can i do?

not bad bro. you have a nice base and are naturally lean so it will be very easy for you to add quality muscle to your bodytype. you need to check out the diet section and learn how to eat big then decide if you want to run a bulker.

In the pics stated im near 168-170. I just stepped on the scale and i was 176 so im not quite as lean but very close. My problem is eating. Im just never hungry. i go all day without eating and eat only at night time and mainly junk at that. I wake up at 9ish, coach wrestling from 3-5 and i eat around 6 then i eat again around 8 and then so on and so forth. i know diet is a huge part of building muscle so i guess im going to have to start forcing food down my throat. Not only that but good foods food my bulking style. Question PT, How many protein shakes should i down a day? 2 or 3?

Yo preston, I personally don't like to overdo protein shakes as the best protein comes from whole food sources (ie. chicken, egg whites, beef, the list goes on...). I will say that i consume two shakes, one post workout and one before bed. Post workout, i like about 50g of whey protein and nearly 100g of dextrose; before bed i like about 40-50g or so of casein protein as it is slower to break down and continually feeds your muscles as you sleep. Best of luck bro.

So i just downed my first protein shake with water...not to tasteful but oh well. I didnt lift today so i guess tomorrow i will start the regimen. I'm hoping to gain about 10 pounds of solid muscle by march. I've found a diet that i believe i can stick with but im still on the hunt for a workout. I think im going to go easy on the shakes for a while. I did some measurments to start off with.
Gf is a nurse pract. she did my bf and measurments
bf%-9.23
arms flexed-16"
chest-43.5
calves-15.5
quads-26
neck-17 1/2
ht-5'8 1/4
wt-178
Hoping to have some solid gains and push the body before i ever even think about hitting gear. Any advice shoot. i have a slightly torn rotator cuff as of now so shoulder workouts are punishing.Last edited by preston145; 11-30-2008 at 11:34 PM. Reason: spelling

my diet...well to tell you the truth i dont have one. But today i ate baked chicken(3 pieces huge) rice, potatoes, and broccoli for dinner, then i ate another piece of chicken, 2 cup cakes, some pretzels, some m&m's, and i had crystal light to drink and a mt dew. i also ate some chicken noodle soup and a snack pack. I always eat like this so im ready to change it.

You look nice and cut, wrestling must keep you in shape. I remember when I did it, it took me 3 week to no longer enjoy the daily 2 mile run
-
12-01-2008, 04:39 AM #9
yes i suppose wrestling does keep me in a bit of shape. I started when i was 3 and been doing ever since. I always did push-ups, running with dumbells, dips, pull-ups, kettle bells. now im getting into the whole bench press thing. Tomorrow ill let oyu know what i can bench press. I want to max just to see where i am and how much i progress. When i do start my gear and my pct what would be reccomended fo rmy body type? It will be quite a while before i ever do it but just wanted an opinion. I have low body fat but im very thick and strong. My body is used to being pushed to its max every day using my own body weight. Though i didnt push weights around alot i did how ever push myself around more than anyone will know. i was thinking d-bol with test e. my body would naturally lean myself back out i would hope.

i personally down 2 protein shakes a day. 1 in the morning and another post workout. its important to have a shake with high quality protein that is low in fat and sugar. there are alot of companies out there selling junk protein shakes that taste great only because there packed with sugar
-
12-02-2008, 02:55 AM #11
well i bought some gnc wheybolic extreme protein. Doesnt taste good but i dont mind it. Im just hapy im finally able to eat at all being done with wrestling. My one question is from my body type from the pics what would you suggest? should i bulk up some more before i really cut? Im at 5'8 177 9.2 perect body fat. Also what cycle would be recommended? i was thinking D-bol along with test. Just throwing it out there. If i shouldn't have asked that here i apologise. I feel like i want to really push my body hard with weights for atleast 6 months before i gear it up.

ok then so the question is this. I workout with my kids for 2 hours a day. Im a hands on coach so im not just telling them what to do i really wrestle with my kids. I mainly work with my 189, 171, and 160 pounder and i sweat off about 5 pds of water every practice. Today i walked in at an impressive 181. I was stoked. Then i left practice at 176.8. I hate the fact i do that but i sweat out all the water i retain. i do drink a protein shake prior to my practices. Oh and i maxed out yesterday.
Max bench for 1 rep-310 squat-430 dead lift-520
The personal trainer at the gym actually included me on a good workout but he was astonished of the strength i possess without ever lifting weights. Was he just hyping me up? How are thoses numbers compared to people who are new as me to weights?
Also should i cut my "hands on" wrestling to just an hour a day instead of going the full 2 hours to keep my weight on? thanks so much you guys

Im not saying i havent ever lfted a weight before im saying i never trained or got on a regular schedule of liftin. All i really do is hundreds of push ups, pull ups, situps, and dips. I asked earlier if that was normal to lift that with being new but i guess in your response its not...
-
12-04-2008, 02:42 AM #16
I mean the bench is good.
The Squat is very good.
And the Dead is nuts for someone who doesnt lift on a regular schedule.
Whats your weight again?

i weigh 178 pounds. These last few days i have been eating like a monster. I have been taking in almost 5000 cals/day and 300 grams protein. Mainly from chicken and beef. I aslo eat 3 cans of tuna everyday. I love it. I also eat oysters out of the can. Luckly my gf is a great cook and she feeds me ever 2-3 hours. I tryin get to get to 200-210 pounds but its so hard for me to bulk up I figure get to 200 and i will cut hard back to 180ish to get my abs back.. My body likes to stay lean but im thick its kinda weird. I def coulda dead lifted more but i was tired from maxing earlier and i was give out by that time. Ever since i was like 15 my dad bought me a junk car and i used to drag it around our fields by a rope. Is there where i the dead lift stregth came from? it was prolly just from wrestling and gymnastics. Plyometrics work great.

your a freak! You should reach your natural limit naturally, then spring board. you will have great potential
-
12-04-2008, 04:58 AM #19
thanks you so much. Being a freak is hopefully a good thing. The trainer is now working with me for free at my gym. im very lucky but i guess he sees something in me. He was doing more laughing at me then training me today. Mainly laughing becaus ei had no clue how much weight he was putting on he just said lift and i was just trying my best to do what he said.
What do you mean by reach my limit naturally then spring board? Im starving for knowledge ive been up reading on this forum now for almost 3 hours. I love those videos about dieting in the diet section. I hopeing to bench press 400 and dead lift 600 by may. The trainer says its very possible. im hoping!

if thats the proof you need so be it. i dont have to come on here and lie. what would be the point in that? im sorry if you've been working out your whole life and im strong or stronger than you on weights. I've been busting my ass since i was 3 years old. You must've never been in a serious sport where your body is pushed to the max every day of your life.

a lot of guys post ridiculous stats that are obviously bluffing, thats why some of the members here dont believe a lot of peoples liftings stats when they are posted. your numbers are very high for someone that has no serious lifting experience, hence why people get suspicous. just shrug it off.
-
12-04-2008, 08:21 PM #23
training every day is still training. doing hundreds of pushups isint really very different from benching, its just a different method and still builds strength and power. but if you are sayin youve never lifted weights, and you walked in and deadlifted over 500 lbs. im sorry but you would have officially bent the fabric of reality. hercules would give you a double take. i dont use weights at all and am still the size i am in my avatar..but that doesnt mean i dont train, i do..i just stimulate growth in a different way.
have you deadlifted before? were you training with weights prior to this but jsut not consistantly? because if not, these claims arent reasonable. for one thing, these lifts on your first day in the gym, suggest you are going to be the strongest pound for pound man in the history of the world. secondly, what kind of personal trainer has thier cleint maxing out on thier first day in the gym on deadlifts?!?!?!! im not saying you havent deadlifted that much, or benched that much..but from what youve suggested tobe your training experience, it is a stretch. and this is the internet man..dont take it personal.Last edited by thetank; 12-04-2008 at 09:58 PM.

I am saying i haven't trained on a regular schedule. I have lifted weights before but not like most people. My dad trained me in a different manner. i grew up on a farm bailing hay, and tending to the chicken houses daily. As far as my streghth goes its not a lie. I wish i could have everyone here come to the golds gym and watch the lifts. I have dead lifted before. When i was 15 my dad bought an old junked out car and i used to lift the front of it for excercise. I also had a rope that was about 12 feet high from a tree in the yard and i would put weights in the bag and climb the rope 10 times a day. Its not like a havent used a muscle in my body unil yesterday. im saying i havent been on a regular schedule trying to get weight strong ever. So here i am today reading and wanting to learn everything i can. i didnt think i would get dogged for some weird stregth i possess. I can tell you i have never wrestled another person near as strong as me on the mat in my life, high school and college level. We do have tests at my college, dead lifting, bench, pushups, crunches, weighted dips, pull ups, sprint, mile run etc. i was pound for pound the strongest athlete on our team. I wont post anymore of my lifts seemingly it offends people...
-
12-05-2008, 03:41 AM #26
Lol... ^^
Take it easy bro..
Where did you wrestle in college? D1?
If you are as good an athlete as it seems, you should be at a top school?
Any honors? All-Am? Conf titles? Nat Title?
-
12-05-2008, 04:24 AM #27
wrestled in GA(fresh, soph) Florida(jun, sen) for suwannee high...2x state champion 4x state placer(1st,1st,2nd,5th), Fargo all-american Greco(5th) freestyle(4th), runner-up tourney of champions(ohio), selected to national dream team at 152 pounds, grad at 160 ranked 28th in nation by usa wrestling magazine. full ride to Cumberland univerisity, dropped out for a girl(dumb)
Wrestled for newberry college this past season finished 7th as a team, i was only a sophomore i started then i broke my leg(tibia and fibia) i have been out for a year as of right now im an assistant coach for mooresville high, i was a good wrestler and i could have gone D1 but i was burnt out on wrestling by the age of 14, hell i didnt even want to wrestle in highschool much less Oklahoma, lehigh, Iowa any of those top schools. Cutting weight will get to you after so many years. i know some of you guys here know what i mean.
Im not a great athlete in my opinion. Im an ok wrestler with great work ethic who only wants to become a better person and more knowledgeable in a weight room which is why im here. All i wanted was some critique on my pics to tell me what i need to work on thats it.

Hey man - seems this thread got sidetracked. You're in a great place to start lifting and if you get your diet and workouts on spot - you'll be amazed what you gain in 1 year. So get some good pics now 'cause you'll want to do a before & after later to keep yurself motivated.
I would say clean up the diet first - go for no more than 2 shakes a day - see if you can get the stuff at Costco - it's way cheap and very good quality. promise yourself you will eat every 3 hours. make those meals count - abandon simple carbs (except after you lift) go for brown rice instaed of whaite multigrain bread, whole wheat pasta, etc. Try to cut sugar out of your diet. 5000 cals is a great goal. Check out Fitday to log your calories. Then concentrate on big simple movements, quats, deads, bench, presses, etc. I like to use Dumbells instead of the bar all the time and esp w/ bench, etc. it adds a lot of mass. Check out Muscle & Fitness mag - they always have 1 or 2 good workouts - take one & follow it for a couple of months and see where it takes you. Above all else, concentrate on form so you don;'t hurt yorself, develop bad habits, inefficient techniques, etc. As a noob - you will be AMAZED by your gains!!! so go for it bro and have fun with it.

Your such an awesome guy, in fact i bet your very likeable..not..instead of being on here running your mouth for no apparent reason you could be at a gym and dead lifting 615.
