Not sure wht I am doing here, but...
28 years old, 225 lbs, 6'2". Im looking to shread some fat, and gain muscle. Im not looking for the bodybuilder look. Ide rather have the underwaer model look. Lean and muscular. Ive tried to do this the natural way, but I get frustrated too soon. I go to the gym 7 days a week, usually for 2-3 hours a day. burnout is an everyday thing for me. I feel great, but no results. Ive also NEVER taken ANY drug. This is the point that I am at. I want to get the look Ive always wanted, and sooner then later. If you have any help, please let me know. I know nothing about any of this so patience is a must. Thanks

I usually do 1 1/2 hours of weight training, then 1 1/2 hours of cardio. I alternate days on weights. 1st day chest/tri, 2nd day back/bicepts, 3rd legs shoulders, repeat. I sometimes take a day off after the 3rd day and do just cardio. My arms get big, but my chest stays small no matter what I do. And now Im getting older (28th b-day today), it seems to just get harder to stay where Im at.

I also spend so much time at the gym because I have sooo much time on my hands. I have a class from 12pm to 5:30pm, and nothing to do besides that. So I work out, and hit up the clubs.

No MTV for me. I have done promo events for a few major companies when I was in better shape (40lbs lighter). But now Im afraid to even call my contacts for work because Im not in shape like I should be. Its frustrating to look back and see where I was a year ago. That is why I need help.

Anyway,
Happy Birthday - give yourself a birthday present and only work out once for each body part next week. In the off time, go to the library and try to find a couple books on Nutrition, Weight Training Exercises and BodyBuilding.
The goal is to read enough to know how your body reacts to the exercising and how valuable nutrition is in helping "sculpt" the body.
You will also see with the exercise and bodybuilding books, which exercises work the best for certain body parts and a lot of the various weight training methods there are.
See where you fit with all this and I bet you can figure out some things to change to get yourself growing again.
EDIT: I was typing this when you posted - so disregard if you've been training for a while. (But I do think you're overtraining - agree with vette on this one)Last edited by TADOLFI; 01-26-2006 at 11:53 PM.

Welcome... and do cut back on the training bro... 2-3 hours 24/7 is way excessive (unless you spend 90% of the time chitchatting...)

Welcome mate. You are working out way to much bro. If you cant get it done in 45 mins, four days a week then you are wasting your time IMO

With the information given, this is whal Im going to try. 45~60 minutes on weights, breaking it into chest, bicepts, shoulders, tricepts, legs, back (each have there own day) followed by 20~30 minutes cardio. I might try 3 days on, 1 day off, just so I have a break. How does this sound?

bro, it sounds like you're seriously overtraining. try taking a full week off from training all together, then start back up with at least 2 days of rest in between the days when you work out upper body or lower body.
