Recovered from cancer, I finally decided to join....Now I'm ready to get going
What's up guys?
I've been a fan of this web site for over a year or so, but never took the time to join. I have finally taken the time out to join and hope to share some information and also receive information.
Let me give you a brief story about my last few years. . .
Two years ago in March, I was diagnosed with cancer. I was at the time a college athlete living in the prime of my life. When I was diagnosed with this illness, I was devistated along with all my teammates and their families. Due to this illness I had to give up my playing career and focus on healing my body. At the time I was in the best shape of my life (all natural), weighing in right at 190 pounds and standing 6'2'' tall.
After 9 months of treatment and about a year of recovering, including chemotherapy and radiation, I am proud to say that I am now cancer-free.
During treatments and also during the recovery time, my weight went up and down. I actually gained up to 225 pounds. Right now I am weight in at 195, but it is no where near the muscle weight that I once had when I was in shape weighing 190.
The reason why I am writing and asking for a little advise today is because all of you have much more experience with supplementation than I do. I do have a B.S. in Exercise Physiology and have years of weight lifting experience, but when it comes to supplements I am basically blind.
I am not looking to do any cycles, but I am looking for some sound advice on over-the-counter products that I can use to help get me back in shape and back to living life the way I used to. I have developed a digestive problem after going through all the treatments. I have a somewhat sensitive stomach. There are a lot of foods I can not eat.
Anyway, I have finally made the decision to get back in the gym and get back to the life I once lived. I have won the battle of cancer and now it is time for me to win the battle in the gym.
After all of this stuff I have been through, I have basically lost all of my friends. I assume they could not handle the stress of having a buddy that was sick. I'd really like to get to know some of you on here and possibly keep in touch with you.
My girlfriend broke up with me two days after I was diagnosed, then started dating my best friend at the time. They are getting married in two months. (What a bitch!)
Please feel free to contact me with any information / advice. I'd really like to get to know some of you on here. I hope that I will be able to offer some advice to some of you about things.
Geaux Tigers,
Michael
