    hey everyone

hello all, how is everyone. lets just start with my story. Basicly I am disgusted with my appearance. my stats
    age 33
    weigh 230
    bf too much
which is the reason I am here. I was a marine for 8 year. when I was a marine I weighed 180-190 and defined but not fully cut up just defined. Got off of active duty five years ago and back to the world. Real life caught up with me and now I am cubby and hate it. I want to get close if not back to the shape I was in. I am looking at a 2 year timeframe, if I get it done in less that would be great. I have extra fat everywhere (love handles, gut, thighs, and yes I have recieve man boobs). So I am here for help, info, knowage. Reading I am overwelmed and don't understand the slang or half of info. no real formal weight training, and almost no knowage. Please bare with this jarhead.

MOD I AM GOING TO SAY SORRY NOW FOR POSTING IN THE WRONG FORUM FOR THINGS NOW.

I wouldn't advise consuming that much if you're trying to lose weight. You first need to figure out what your maintenance calories are to maintain your current based on your age, weight, height, activity level, etc. You then need to figure out your target and set up a plan to consume less than you burn. You can do this by A) proper diet and B) cardio and lifting. I'd guess you were thinner in the marines because you were very active and your metabolism was higher. Now that you're sitting around all day, your metabolism is probably lower, and I'd guess you're not eating as well either. Use the diet forum here (posted above) and maybe work with one of the vets to come up with a good diet plan. Work in some cardio wherever you can (e.g., take walks for lunch, hit up a cardio machine at the gym) and get religious about it. Lifting will help as well, not only because it'll burn calories but also because it'll begin to raise your metabolism. The most important thing I think is discipline and desire. You need to get through the first month or so as that'll be the hardest, but with the support of these guys I know you can do it. As a marine you know how to work hard!

First I hope to be taken under a wing of a vet, maybe someone will have pity on me.
I am trying to eat 1500-2000 cal a day. I am on my feet all day and lifting light to moderate things at work, so I am slightly active. I am doing p90x which is a good all around routine it seems, but i am guessing doubling up on the cardio would not hurt. I am three weeks into the p90x routine so I am already on my way.

Side note mods, how come I have no access to my inbox or my profile??
