US awards Bronze Stars to Canadian casualties
The 4 Canadian soldiers killed by an American bomb in Afghanistan have been awarded the Bronze Star. The medals award those who have served in action against an enemy of the USA. They were killed in April when the pilot of an American F-16 thought that the troops on the ground were enemy forces.

MEDAL REJECTED
Today the father of Ainsworth Dyer rejected the Bronze Star offered by the U.S. Army, saying "I'm not interested in any medal from the Americans. They only want to make themselves look good...A medal is not my son."
The mother of Marc Leger said the medals are a "nice recognition".
The mother of Richard Green has launched a wrongful death lawsuit against the American Government.
If the pilots who bombed them face a court martial and are convicted, they could spend up to 64 years in military prison. The pilots claimed that the Canadian forces on the ground were firing their machine guns into the sky, although the pilots had been warned that there were "friendlies" in the area. The decision on whether or not to make them face a court martial could take several months.
