There are certain foods that should be avoided in every diet, let it be a bulking or a cutting diet.

Black list includes any processed food, namely prepackaged food that has undergone the ''touch'' of food industry. These usually include simple sugars and many additives. Amongst the list would be cereal, candy bars, ice cream, pastry, most canned food (sodium loaded soups, tv dinner stuff), most jarred food (pasta sauces, jams) and so forth.

High GI food also should be avoided, regardless of that it may be natural. Potatoes, white bread, sodium loaded ramen, watermelon, figs, dates, raisins can be listed here.

Fast food joints altogether must be avoided.

Sources of unhealthy fats should be avoided too. Any refined oil source such as margarine, mutated frying oils, refined canola and other vegetable oils are not only not beneficial to us, but they also threaten human health on various levels. Instead, EVOO, nuts, natural butter, natural peanut butter, unrefined cold processed flax seed and grape seed oils should be preferred.

Brown rice over pasta is a better choice of carbs per se, just like yams over regular potatoes are a better choice.
