    over 40 and FOOD!

not only does the joy of aging come with it's aches and pains(Literally), but how the body responds different to the food you intake. one of my main goals for trt, or should i say hopes was to mimick that god given gift of youth where you ate anything and everything and failed to gain an ounce.
just would like to hear some modifications some have done to their diets..as for me low carb is not working like it used too and looking to invstigate some other avenues...
    thanx

I hate to tell you this but TRT is not going to give you that wonderful gift back. But it will help you with those aches and pains.

Diet is a real bitch. I struggle with it every day. When i was younger I would do the bulking thing and then the cutting thing. but as I aged i found that when I bulk I dont cut anymore. so I had to stay on a year round diet of trying to cut. That is when I found I feel better stay healthier and I dont have that time I have to loose alot of fat.

I tend to gain weight real easy. I can gain about 10 pounds of fat in about 2 months and it takes about 6 months to get that off. And I mean 6 months of diet exercise and being strict with it.

When i am not on a cycle and I would consider trt not being on cycle.
I have worked out my own diet I call the cave man diet. its simple. If a cave man doesnt know what it is dont eat it. But I cheat. I have to have my cofee. even if a cave man wouldnt know it.

This is probably frowned on . At 46 I eat 2 or 3 jars natural peanut butter a week . ( no salt , just crushed peanuts )
I try to eat high ( Good ) fat foods ( avocados ) . Very little saturated fats or animal fats .
Aid in my heart health and lowering cholesterol .
Also with age , I find fiber is equally important as protein .

At some point dieting is over and you really have to make it a life long change.

Low carb is not a very good choice, i would say go low glycemic and allow yourself to cheat once in a while.

I found that adding between 2-3 whey protein shake really helps cutting out appetit and has so many good things in it.

Sadly my father passed away from cancer in 2006, this is where i learned the most on whey protein and its benefits for the immune system, weight loss and so much more.

My father was given HMS 90 which is a isolate whey protein that they give the patient when he is on chimo treatments.

Try to cut out all high glycemic carbs and sugar.

Keep lifting weights and doing cardio and you should be just fine.

It sucks ass that when we are 18 we would give anything to get big and massive but when we get older i am 37 would give anything to get back thin into a 32 inch waist pants.

My girlfriend pisses me off has well because she is 32 eat anything she wants and is so damn skinny GRRRRR

My body metabolism went from 5th gear to 2nd great when I turned 46. For the first time in my life I had a jiggle when I ran up the stairs. LOL, yeah I freaked out. I graduated from college at 140lbs so when I hit 180lbs and got the jiggles it was a totally different experience. Since then I've just watched my portions. I love food so I eat everything including cookies, cakes, ice cream, donuts, LOL. But I do a lot of cardio and watch my portions. I just don't eat as much. If I eat a donut at lunch I eat less carb and more protein for dinner. If I eat a heavy protein breakfast I eat more veggies at lunch. I still do the protein and vitamin supplementation. I'm 50, 200lbs and about 15% bf. Oh, I'm on a cycle right now. I tell my wife I'm in the "bulking" phase as I gobble down everything in sight. LOL, not really. I'll get down to 10% bf when I'm done with this cycle. Oh, I've been on HGH for 6 months and it seems to have picked my metabolism up some. I'm not eating clean but I'm still pretty lean and can see a six pack. I thought that my diet and gear would turn me into a lard A _ _. LOL

I think at our age its not a "diet" anymore its a life style change. One of the biggest changes for my this year was SODIUM. Take a look at the nutrition guide on the back of everything you eat. Pre packaged diet meals are the worst. Avg person should have no more than 2000mgs of sodium a day. Some of those meals have over 1000 in one helping. No wonder we work our asses off and still look fat and bloated.

I struggle all the time trying to keep out sodium, sugar and "bad" carbs is vital in keeping my weight down. More important it is quantity that is the big factor. Eating small bites throughout the day seems to keep my metabolism going. When I "cheat" I gain immediately. Trying to keep my weight at 113 seemed impossible so I was happy at 115-118. Now I have slipped to 122 and Im miserably unhappy. I see the difference and felt better being very careful not to put anything in my mouth that was a "bad" carb but I slipped and Im paying the price. Some people thought I looked to thin but now Im just miserable and know I have to get back on track. When you get older it seems like less is best.

I've been eating a carb cycle diet I read about on this forum. It seems to be working great. I'm leaner now than when I started and in combination with the HGH I'm taking I feel great.

Im over 40 as well and I cannot seem to loose bodyfat. I've been lifting heavy 3 days a week and running on my off days. My diet is my biggest obsticle, Im glad to see others with the same problems. My cloths are fitting better but my electronic scale is not showing a drop in body fat.

oh the pains and aches...i would give anything to be 30 again!!! Cardio is hard but it is a must when you're over 40. it lowers your blood pressure and strengthen your vascular system, and it helps you lose weight. i lost 35+ pounds inside 6 months at age of 49, but you really have to be consistent, no cheating (sorry I know someone said you can cheat), it’s like an alcoholic who hasn’t had a drink in ten years and one day decides to cheat, do you think it will be easy to resist another?! I haven’t had a cookie or an ice cream since May 10th, and I know if I did, I’ll sneak one in every day, then a little more. Well, you get the picture!!! I hate getting old…

Daummm ! ...No cookies or ice cream? ? ?

Sylvester Stallone would be Proud !

No really...that's a great achievement. I wish i could do that...i used to able to avoid sweets but lately...i've been screwing up. (must be the holidays, etc).

Looks like everything in life boils down to one thing...DISCIPLINE! You either make the commitment or....you don't!

Nothing's easy....especially as we age (sigh).
