arming Afghan and Iraq
Everyone on here says how we armed them and its our fault saddam tortured his people and how we armed the man responsible for 9/11. My point is yes we armed them, but because we were practically at war with russia (for those who remember the cold war) and we didnt want these places falling into their hands... its like we are arming the northern ******** in Afghanastan and the soldiers in Iraq.. We are doing this so they can fight off the people in power now.. in 20 years if they fight against us or bomb us in some way we never would be able to predict that..
just my opinion as i always say i could be wrong and if i am i will admit it... feel free to post your brains out.

No we did all so we could make money!!!!!! No other reason. See this is why im having problems with all the slogans and such the liberals spout off. The only people that will believe that kind of stuff is stupid people. I know these guys on here are not stupid, so then I question their intentions.
Do you guys make statements like that to make ignorant uninformed people to believe it????? You cant really believe that stuff. Come on you know what you guys are doing.

You are correct. In 1979 the soviet goverment took control of Kabul, the Afghan capital. The soviet gave control of Kabul to Babrak Karmal, who brought in over 100,000 soviet soldiers because they wanted preserve the communist goverment (among other reasons). The United States invested several million dollars worth the food and guns towards the refugees (osama bin laden & company), to help them fend off the soviet power. The soviets did not officially withdraw till 1989.

if you look at the weopons they where mostly chinese, pakistani and iranian.
becuase if afghanistan was to be taken over these countries where screwed becuase they share bourders with afghanistan and it sooner or later the soviet union would have then tried to take over iran, pakistan and then possibly fought with china.
and even if america did arm the afgans so what.
all the stinger missiles you gave them had timed batteries which leave the systems inoperable and unusable after a couple of years and most of the weopons you gave them have probably never been used against you or cant becuase they either ran out and are worn out.
no one can blame america or any other country for arming afghanistan.
the soviet union was a major threat to the world.
i honestly think america and other counties who helped the afghans against the soviet union should be thanked.
becuase the afghans crippled, humilated and weakened the soviet union millitry.

Anyone ever heard of the cold war policy of containment and backing non communist regimes?
I think a much better topic would be arming Japan and South Korea...

who armed japan and south korea?

kdawg, I almost always agree with you but this is what we get for getting other people to fight our wars (communism) we unwittingly founded a terrorist organization that is now our greatest enemy (that is out in the open).

i think we funded them because straight up fighting the soviets wouldve lead to nuklear war... thats why they didnt fight us in vietnam they armed the vietnamese. also we couldnt attack so many places in nam because they thought we would hit a russian boat and cause WW3

Yeah but I have to believe that the Soviets were smart enough to know where the funds were coming from.

i agree with 1victor. we were stuck between a rock and a hard place and did what was right at the time and now we are paying for it, hindsight is a mother fvcker huh?

If you notice some of the people we have armed have actually been our strongest allies. Isreal, Austrailia will go to war with us no matter what we get into. They appreciate what we do for them. Its a whole different kind of people. France doesnt care that we protected them in the world war, they are traitors as far as im concerned. We have helped, gave aid, food, money and weapons to alot of arab countrys. And they still hate us, I dont think we would please these people with anything. There is no sensitive way to deal with these people. All they understand is brute strength. We aided them for our own agendas but they also have ate nothing but bags of food that had United States stamped on the side of them.

Canada isnt exactly being a good supporter right now letting known terrorist live in their country.

Canada is trying their hardest to stay away from conflict and getting themselves stuck in the same boat we are. It obviously sucks that is at our expense tho.
