GW's kids party away while sons of the middle class die.
Father torches van after news of son's death

Flames consume this van after a father who'd just learned his son died in Iraq set it afire while inside.
Father torches Marine Corps van -- with himself inside -- when told of son's combat death.
(CNN) -- After being informed that his 20-year-old son was killed while serving in Iraq, a Florida man doused a U.S. government van with gasoline and set it on fire while sitting inside.
Carlos Arredondo, 44, was severely burned and rushed to Hollywood Regional Hospital in Florida after learning that Pfc. Alexander Arredondo had died, police said.
"He suffered serious burns," said Detective Carlos Negron.
Negron said the young man was killed in Iraq Tuesday.
Melida Arredondo told CNN-affiliate WFOR, "My husband did not take the news well."
The events started around 2:15 p.m. when three Marine casualty officers arrived at the home to inform the Arredondo family of the death.
Arredondo went to his garage and came out carrying a propane tank, a gallon of gasoline and a welder's torch, police spokesman Tony Rode said.
The Marines tried to calm him, Rode said, but Arredondo smashed the window of their van, got inside and doused it with the gasoline.
Then he set it on fire.
"Unfortunately, the man was caught in the fire," a police statement said.
Video showed the van engulfed in flames.
The three Marines pulled the father from the burning van and had him "drop and roll," police said.
Arredondo was taken to a hospital and then to a burn center in Miami, Florida, with serious burns over much of his body.
"A bad situation turned ugly is what happened," Rode said.
"He's actually inside and, at one point, comes out of the vehicle pretty much on fire," Rode said. "He was burning on his arms, legs and hands."
The U.S. Marines had no immediate comment.
A call to the family's home was not immediately returned.

The guy was obviously mentally ill to set himself on fire that is rediculous. I don't care what kind of point you are trying to make or how upset you are at your loss. As far as the Bush daughters partying it's not like they got a personal telegram with the news this guy died and started to celebrate. Badger you can do better than this. I am a little disappointed.

GW doesn't have anything at stake except his political career. The only time he put himself at risk was when he was drunk for 20 years.

What does Kerry have at stake? He can go back to his millions that he married into. Let's not throw pointless jabs. We will never agree on this. I just think this post is a little out there.

I dont believe this guy was ill at all. Do you have kids? I know exactly how I'd react if I were told a close member of my family was killed.

"Mart buggers Badgerman while Iraqi Police storm Najaf shrine" - so besides both you and the insurgents getting screwed, what do these have to do with each other? - you could have just as easily tied the story to "while Kerry winsurfs...or visits one of his mansions..or sips coffee even."
wake up kiddie, only other kiddies buy those kind of arguments
as to the guy - sad tale to be sure..gotta be hard on him...but it is the price we all could pay - policemen's wives have that same awefull wait every day...firemen too...and many others who protect us from bad things

EastCoaster I have six kids how many do you have? Setting myself on fire would not bring my child back to life or halp my wife and other kids. The guy was whacko!

I think they are all cold, some just colder than others. Cheney is scary, yes. I believe that Bush is twice the human being Kerry will ever be. That's my opinion, I'm not going to argue over my opinion. I just think that you guys are so focused on hating Bush that you can't see Kerry for who he is.

Kerry worked his ass off ****ing rich women. 4 months of "combat" with who knows how much time recovering from "wounds"? Until he releases his records his war history means absolutely nothing. He is not a warrior or a war hero. He just started using that platform at the convention. I said twice the human being (not manliness). Kerry is as fake as they come and he was raised with a silver spoon too.
I have read about Bushs business experience, he was surrounded by partners that had a hand in the failures as well. Kerry has done absolutely nothing except be a career politician, I don't care what party they come from career politicians are as corrupt as they come, they have to be to surive that long. Now who is being short sighted?

I see GW as using religion to grab power and money. Much more dangerous and hypocritical than the man who simply denies God. GW sees the religious right as a tool that he can fool with his mouth......
As for me.....I see the fruit of his actions......death, destruction, and taking advantage of the poor(the very group Jesus championed)......so which do you see???.....the words or the actions???........I would prefer an atheist to the pharisee we have now.

His religion has nothing to do with my choice , I honestly mean that. I think it's funny how people who are not believers think Christians are stupid and easily led. That is very far from the truth. We challenge everything and everyone on a daily basis to be steadfast in our convictions. I was not always a Christian I have been on both sides of the coin and I am not some fanatic or zealot.

He really inherited a dump of an economy plus 911 (don't even try to pin 911 on him) He came in with 2 strikes. I think the rest of the world sucks and I could care less if we are popular. I think we need to beat down some of these small egomaniac countries. We should do things that we will never do. Withdraw from the U.N., stop all foreign aid, quit NAFTA, set a flat tax, many, many things. They are ALL corrupt and greedy there is no difference . It's like Pepsi or Coke you have a preference but they are basically the same.
