Sorry, I was out of town and missed this thread. Scott Ritter is a former Marine and weapons inspector that supposedly reported there were no WMD before we invaded Iraq. The fact that he's a gruff Marine and a card carrying Republican is pointed to by the Left as a reason why he should be listened to. The problem is that he contradicts himself and makes some questionable statements.

Here is the link I got my info from:

    http://www.truthout.org/docs_02/07.25A.wrp.iraq.htm

Here was my response on the Iraq and WMDs thread:

I like that they used such thourough research and so strictly followed chains of evidence, but what about that material that was supplied by foreign governments including our own? Do you really think there were invoices for such shipments? If they relied exclusively on paperwork and invoices there would be huge amounts of material that they would overlook. And what about the fact that Saddam's own records showed more material than they actually found? I understand the lying and trying to hide stuff, but how does it benefit him to lie and say they had MORE than they had?

Second, If the inspectors had destroyed 90-95% of Iraq's WMDs, as Ritter claims, then why would he say "... he wants the inspectors back in Iraq, doing their jobs?" What would the inspectors be doing? He already said they destroyed all the weapons. There should be no job to do. There should be no weapons to find.

Lastly, I can't for the life of me figure out what going to war would have accomplished for the mid-October elections. Are you saying we went to war so that a few Senator would get elected? This is just insane. So President Bush talked himself into a corner with political rhetoric about removing Saddam and to get out and also guarantee (how would that happen?) a bunch of Senators got elected, he decided to go to war, all by himself, with a little help from his cabinet. Rrriiigghhhttt. So all those Senators on the Senate Select commitee on Intelligence, including John Kerry, who saw all the evidence that the President did, and agreed the only course was war, were all trying to get those Senators elected too?

The fact is, the Senate Select Commitee on Intelligence is made up of senior Senators from both parties, and you can't expect me to believe that Democrats would have made any sort of bargin with Republicans to go into a war that would only benefit the Republicans politically. The Senators were given the same intelligence the President was and they came to the same conclusions. War was the final answer. And now, in an election year, they have a problem because President Bush didn't sit there and take France, Germany, and Russia's high and mightyness long enough, or bow to the Socialist 3's wish that we wait another 10 years so they could rack up some more dough. So they (the Democrats) are saying we rushed into war. That the President mislead the people into war. Really, so those same Senators on the Intelligence Commitee had no responsibility to their constituents or this country to say ANYTHING TO ANYONE about the President or his cabinet misleading the American people when the misleading was apparently happening? No, Saddam has been pushing us into war for 10+ years, President Bush was just the first leader in that time with the balls to push back.

Liike I said I don't know what tape you're talking about.

I found a link to a transcript of a taped interview I think, but it is even more ****ing to Iraq than anything.

Ritter was also arrested in 2003 for soliciting what he thought was a 16 year old girl in a chat room.

    Hope this helps.
