    To all my fellow Southerners

I didn't hear this first hand, my sister called and told me about it. Therefore I do not know the name of the small man responsible for the comment......yet.
She was watching fox news this morning, when they brought in a spokesman for the Democratic party to talk about Ohio. She quoted him as saying "Slavery is now over, we need to let the South form its own nation." I take serious offense to this statement, and I know if I was a Southern Democrat, I would be totally offended that a man of my party made such an offensive statement.

I agree with this...other then about Tock..Too be honest Tock I dont love you at all in any way whatsoever..

I do think it's funny that people can say "white trash" but if you talk about any other group of individuals with similar characteristics and have the same skin color then thats considered racism.

sorry, but I live in the South and I sleep well because: I know I have good family values and morals.....I know that Southern gentleman is something some of you will never understand.....I've been all over the world and the South is home to the nicest people around.....you will never run into the kind of rudeness you encounter in New York City.....Oh, and noone I know or know of has ever slept with a family member....Anyone who believes that definitely watches too many movies and is buying into the "Hollywood" image the South is made to look like.....I promise you, contrary to popular belief....we have all our teeth and we don't all live in cabins on the bayou and have alligators in our back yards

its a proven fact that there is considerable inbreeding in the south, thats why geneticists do all thier human experiments in the area.

Nice to your face......I've experienced southern hospitality.......they are a crooked bunch........and there are alot of southerners that will NOT let a black man into their house. I personally know a horse trainer that would not let hall of famer Mel Blount each lunch in his home......had to stay out on the porch......

I am from Kentucky, I guess you could say a Southern state even though it was more neutral, but I cant stand the image of people with no shoes, no electricity (abercrombie t-shirt), and all this stuff. I will say I have been North and been down South. South everywheres you go you get a good wave and smile, North I dont think so.... Plus its simple, Country people are a lot nicer than a bunch of city slickers, but thats just what I've encountered and everyone is free to have their own opinion.

I would NEVER disagree that these type of things happen. They are done by idiots, but realize your making it sound like it doesn't happen to other races as well. These types of things happen all over the world. Not just in the south and not just with a specific race.

I'm from Ohio. It depends on what people you encounter. Not really the individual place. Although, a lot of places are biased one way or another towards one race or another as well. Placing any individuals in a group, regardless if they are yellow, purple, green or gray is stupid.

If you have a reason to dislike an individual thats fine, but to dislike a group, rather then that individual is a sign of stupidity.

The stereotypes people go by are hilaroius. If you really believe millions of people are the same because of where they are from or their skin color or their religion then you obvoiusy aren't thinking for yourself. I admire people that can think for themselves and make their own choices not ones that are based on what their siblings, friends have told them.

exactly, I can't speak for 100% of all Southerners, just as you can't speak for 100% of all Northerners

i'd like to see the documentation on that, perhaps from a non-biased source?

here is one piece from the principles of genetics sixth edition (p101). in all states brother-sister and mother-son marriages are forbidden, and in all states except georgia, father-daughter marriages are forbidden. georgia did not inted to permit father-daughter marriages. however, the law was drafted using biblical terminology that inadvertently did not prohibit a man from marrying his daughter or his grandmother. thirty states prohibit the marriage of first cousins.

so they dont overtly say that southerners are inbred, but it shows why they use the south as a model.

if you know anything about science you will know that its hard to to get scientists to be overt with data such as this. other examples are the xyy syndrom that has a high incidence in male prison inmates. they know its there, they have just decided it would be better to not bring it up. the same is true on a number of scientific lines of data. if you are so inclined look up some old data in pub med on things like polydactyly, as a recessive trait, or the BDNF receptor on intelligence and try to find out where the subjects originate from.

Sen. Dodd: We Democrats Are out of Touch

Thoughtful Democrats are realizing that they should view Tuesday's elections as a wake-up call and start considering why they're so out of touch with the American people.

"We Democrats better think long and hard about what happened ... and how our party is going to connect with the hopes and aspirations of the people," liberal Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., said Wednesday after managing to win re-election, unlike Minority Leader Tom Daschle.

"We have lost the ability to connect with people's value systems, and we're going to have to work to get that back."

Retiring Democrat Sen. Zell Miller of Georgia wrote for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: "Secular socialism, heavy taxes, big spending, weak defense, limitless lawsuits and heavy regulation — that pack of beagles hasn't caught a rabbit in the South or Midwest in years.

"The most recent failed nominee for president stands as proof that the national Democratic Party will continue to dwindle."

Rep. Earl Pomeroy, D-N.D., noted: "I think that the Democratic Party nationally is perceived as being out of step with mainstream values. I want our party to do a better job of speaking to matters of faith and family."

The more clueless among them, however, are merely wailing.

"We have lost just about everything that we can lose," moaned San Francisco Democrat Nancy Pelosi, the House minority leader.

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, who inadvertantly helped re-elect Bush by making same-sex marriage a galvanizing issue, whined to the New York Times: "There is a sense of helplessness that we couldn't tip the election in any way. We couldn't do it rhetorically or in an actual vote. You feel powerless."

Even though the Democrats chose the Senate's No. 1 leftist for their presidential nominee, Green Party leader Jo Chamberlain told the San Francisco Chronicle that leftists should now abandon the Democratic Party (uh, who exactly would remain, then?).

"We stepped aside and told the Democrats, 'Go get the White House,' and they failed," she grumbled. "So now, the progressive left is suffering because of their poor planning and leadership."

Now that's what you call progress.

Jeremy you say that southern folk are nice people.....and i agree.
    I've grown up on a farm....waylon jennings....merle haggard....and homemade wine.

However, I've been to Tenn. a few times and everytime I go when people first meet me and find where I'm from I get a little bit of a cold shoulder because they think i'm a yank. This especially happens when i'm at a store or someplace where they see my car liscense plate. However, after the formal greeting they warm up to me like crazy and everything goes great. I'm just saying the south doesnt like Yanks.

oh i just remembered something about my last trip down..... upon entering Polk County Tenn. I came to a sign that said Welcome to Polk County Don't Let the Sun Beat Your Black A$$ Home.

things like that dont help the south's reputation.
