Problems in the US policy
Westerners, and especially the United States, the target of the Sept. 11 attacks, have come to recognize this issue, at least in part. Therefore the US administration has begun an attempt to "reorganize the Islamic world" over the next 10-15 years. However, its strategy has two serious shortcomings:
1. The United States should not employ military methods.
The US operation in Afghanistan ushered in an era of military interventions which so far shows little sign of letting up. To take one example, consider the impending war against Iraq. Some observers predict that after it deals with Iraq, the US will proceed to still more military operations against other countries in the Middle East. Such a path, however, will not help the US to reach its goals, and will moreover claim the lives of many innocents. Military methods will inevitably be interpreted as a "war against Islam," which will in turn only add further fuel to the fires of tension and conflict.
If the United States truly wants to wage a "war against terrorism" it should do so in the realm of ideas and opinion. Terrorism is not a tangible enemy, rather it is a method used by people guided by mistaken ideas. One cannot fight against a method, one can only fight against a force that uses this method. If this force is an opinion, then it should be defeated on the field of opinion. The ideology and psychology that lead to terrorism must be done away with. In their place, people should instead should be taught the real religion based upon the Qur'an, instead of mistaken religious interpretations that result in terrorism.
2. The United States should not try to impose a solution from "the outside."
The reasoning laid out above shows that it is not right for the United States to try to solve the problem from "the outside." The problem lies in misinterpretations and distortions of Islam at the hands of certain people, therefore the solution should come from the world of Islam. Muslims could work to promote a proper understanding of Islam and at the same time fight misinterpretations of it. The United States should support a solution originating from within the Islamic world.
Were the United States to support such an approach, this would be better for the US, better for the world's Islamic community and indeed better for the entire world. Those who claim the opposite should reconsider their stances, realizing in the process that such views are leading the world into a bloodbath. The US administration must be careful not to give credit to the erroneous suggestions of some forces with various ulterior motives. These forces are some ideologues and strategists who want fervently to see a bloody war erupt between the West and the Islamic world, and moreover are trying to portray US anti-terrorist policies as part of a "war against Islam."

I agree with a good deal of what you have there. I'm not for a military solution, but if one is to be utilized, it can NOT be done without FULL commitment to that particular vehicle. In other words, unless you're talking the full disposal of the American arsenal and the utter wiping off the map of that area, then any military force is only going to exacerbate that problem. And, as few people would advocate that 'full force', the only logical conclusion is yours: that military action can only serve to worsen the problem.
With regards to your second point, I'll confess to not having a full enough understanding of the dynamics at play within the Muslim world to fully evaluate your stance. That being said, with my somewhat limited knowledge, i think the United States needs to remain very much so proactive in this regard, and 'from the inside' seems to be the more efficient way to do so.

awesome post , this actually kindles a lot of good ideas to combat this virus we have developed in ISLAM , i think the USA should exchange ideas with the current islamic countries in order to educate and guide their citizens better , and give them their freekin rights ............. cause most of this is all about rights .......... its a fact fire breathes fire ...... and war will only indulge more war .......... so a more educated approach is needed to fight this virus of terrorism , since its is an OPINION of some and opinions can be changed thorugh proper educational scientific techniques ......... very interesting Militia , like i said , AWESOME POST !!!!

This has to be the most sensable posts you have made. You are right that this problem will not be solved for you by our goverment. But you have to also take note this problem is effecting you and your arab goverments more than it is us. We americans take the war to our enemys land. If arabs ever want peace again with the U.S. it needs to correct the problem themselves. The Goverments that do cooperate with the United States will not be taken over like Afganistan and Iraq. Goverments like Syria, Iran, lebanon are on our sh!t list . Its up to them to stop the problem before they bring the above outlined problem upon themselves.
Before speaking to people like Causasian and Zoaib on here, I only knew the distorted veiw on islam. The crap these muslim clerics are starting will only cause your people more problems. I now consider the religion Islam like Christianity a peacefull religion. But just like War hungry christians , these terrorist do not represent true islam. Maybe it represents the more devoted portion of Islam. We have missionarys you guys have terrorists!!! LOL j/k Anyways it would do all of you much good to denounce these actions like many of you allready have.

More on this later, but honest question, do you really think that it would be better for Iraq for the US to leave tomorrow and start talking to them??

IMO any country under occuption cannot build anything and cannot progress, so if the usa leave now yes iraq will be better because ,iraqi ppl are ready to start building they r not a barbaric ppl they did a lot of good things in engineering technology and biology is the mid 70s they r hardworking ppl and when the usa get out those terrorist animal beheaders will have no reason to stay in iraq and do those terror acts actualy ppl will force them to leave, sooner or later usa will get out from iraq why they dont do it now and stop this bloodbath...but imo any smart man will know that usa will not let iraq be ruled by a gov that is not willing to give the us a green card to get the iraqi oil even if this gov is elected by the ppl usa will do anything to overthrow this governement , the iraqi ppl have a big challenge now!
