Is it true that the guys in India that grow their hair from birth and wrap it around in the cloth head gear are only allowed to cut their hair if they kill a muslim???

punjab - its an area - the people you are talking about is a SIKH - and yes they grow their hair and never cut it and wrap it around their head in a cloth turban - its part of their religion........killing muslims isnt or at least last I heard (but they do make an exception now and again )

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL , your not the first person i heard ask that, theyre's a rumor going around and i think some muslims in the gulf countries made that up when they didnt know why Seiks wrap their heads like that........i dont know why or what religeous significance it has to grow the hair like that and never cut it, but i am sure it has nothing to do with killing muslims or else everyone of them would have gotten it over with so they can get that thing off!!
If that was true also i think Seiks wouldnt be allowed in any muslim countires because thats basically letting in a person who u know will kill u for religeous gain..... But the truth is there are many many seiks all over muslim countries and no one ever dicriminates them at all because i really think no one knows anything about them or their religeon.
If anyone knows why Seiks wrap their heads like that then i would like to know so pelase post it.

they used to raid muslims communities in india , and kill plenty , but then majority of south india became muslim , the numbers of muslims grew and they took care of the SKIHS numbers , now in india for every 1 SIKH there are 17 Muslims .............. so they dont fvck aorund with them anymore , but yes once in a while a SIKH is sick ( funny how these 2 words ryhme ) of being mistaken for an ape , is stressed out enough to go kill a muslim !

Thats just unbelievable!! Muslims do have their common disagreements and problems in the world with Jews and Christians but none of them ever commited as much as the Seikhs to grow their hair non-stop untill they kill a muslim!!! Thats hatred beyond the depths of the heart!!

Wow zoib you really are full of ****, i thought you were intelligent but i guess your dumb as a door-nob. And yes i am Sikh i find your comments very DEGRADING. Where to begin... First of we are not stereotyped like black africans ( you really are a propaganda machine ) infact we are land owners and punjab is very wealthy, we live in the most fertile land and farm it for generations. Goto any american universities and look at the graduating medical students, a large proportion of them are sikh, do the same for nursing, infact make your way to the buisness faculty and you'll see lots of sikhs - not bad for "lower IQs" hey zoib. Also goto a Sikh community in Canada, America or England and you'll see how well of sikhs really are. While we are on the topic let me tell you what i learned in medical school that people who marry within their family ( like many muslims do )and continue this practise will eventually have lower IQS and immune systems, there's no genetic variation being passed down so in a sense they are de-evolving -getting dumber.
Now lets give you a little history lesson, Sikhs were once ( unfortunetly ) muslim and hindus, but we didn't like idol worshipping and of course the backward ways of islam, so our Guru's created sikhism. Of course this didn't go very well with the muslims ( since they have no religious tolerance ) so they tortured and murdered as many sikhs as they could. So you can see why it is written in our holy book that we should never trust a muslim. Sikhs in general are known as warriors, that is why so many are in the military, infact this has been touched on in movies like star trek, where khan (Sp) was a sikh. Even look it up in the encylopedia.
Now go find your self a religion professor and ask him what is the most scientifically proven religion - the answer not islam but sikhism. But unlike you, sikhs dont suffer from an inferiority complex and go around posting about sikhism in this forum. It seems all these thread are about islam, and its usually you and your budies that are doing this - I wonder why????
Do you really want me to continue and play your game - do you really want me to critique islam and put all the bad points about your religion on this board, and watch you explode. As an example didn't Muhammed marry his own daughter-in-law, and marry some kid that was like 6-11 yrs old, What I can't hear you? You want me to stop - ok.
Its not funny getting a taste of your own medicine.
sorry about all the spelling mistakes, but typed this very quick.

MMM calling me an ape - i guess thats still better then an inbred. I remeber that article in CNN where afghanistan military soliders were taking youg boys in the trenches with them, and doctor had to treat they boys after the men did what they usually do to young boys - i can try to find the article if you want, this is no bull****. <- BTW aren't you all part of the same religion.

Do sikhs belive in reincarnation? or do they believe in heaven and hell? I'm sorry i'm asking so much i just seriously have found it hard in the pas to find somone that knew much about that religeon so i'm taking advantage of u being online now.

No problem bros we believe in reincarnation, just do a google search on sikhism. If you want you can go on a sunday to a sikh gudwara (church), and you'll see how much respect you will be shown regardless of your believes. Infact you can even have a free lunch, like all gudwaras do on sundays - so you can even get a free meal out of it - lol
I've always been asked about the long hair issue, but then i always think didn't jesus have long hair and many other great peeps in our history.

Is this seriously true? I have sikh friends in school, one looks exactly like Osama Bin Laden.
I know Sikhism is a mix of Hinduism and Islam.

I c ould never understand why the arab muslims hate the pakistani muslims, one of my best friends was sunni from pakistan and after 9/11 all the arab muslim turned on him - its not like he has any say in pakistan foreign policy.
Actually this thread is good it shows how ignorant some of you are.
11-16-2004, 10:11 PM #15
Hold on so that isnt true. Dont call me an extremist, because I am not.
11-16-2004, 10:21 PM #16
I am really clueless about this religion. So I wont say anything about it. I was just wondering if what they said was true.

The reason behind keeping their Hair in a turban is because Sikhs' believe that their strength comes from their hair, hence the long beards as well as the hair inside the Turban. The Turban's relevance is that it keeps the hair together, healthy and well groomed in appearance...unlike an "Oragotan" (it's ORANGUTANG btw).
When you mention the Sikhs being regarded as 3rd class citizens, do you not realize that the Prime Minister of India is a Sikh? That's pretty 3rd class to me...you dumb sh1t.
When you mention Lower IQ's, you fail to realize that the top Heart Surgeon in America is Sikh and that over 50% of Microsoft's programmers and developers are in fact, Sikh. Look into the growing field of Medicine and Technology, and what do you find, a large majority being Sikh.
Your ignorance and simple mindedness is utterly disgusting. Before you speak, know what you're speaking of or else shut your big mouth you sh1tface.

That pretty much symbolizes that regardless of what religion, race, culture or where you're from, you do believe in a God and that is enough. We don't believe in any one god in Particular (IE. Jesus, Allah, etc...) but we do believe that there is a Higher Being.
Sikhism also believes that regardless of who you are, where you're from or what sex you are, we are all equal. Man, woman, Christian, Catholic, Jewish, Palestinian, etc...it doesn't matter, we're all equal. No one religion or culture is better then the other and our religion or culture is not higher then anyone else's.
Equality among people is what Sikhism is founded on.

Thanks Ronny, its interesting, I dont know anything about Sikhism.
Is it a mix of Islam and Hinduism like I have heard?
11-16-2004, 10:40 PM #22
And one more question, are Sikhs Brahmins, or high caste Aryans?

Hindu's believe in a Cast system among the people. It's like a heirarchy. Your role in the Hindu society is based on what Cast you're born into. Whether or not you attend school and become a doctor or politician, whether you're a servant or a taxi driver or even whether you're a bum on the street is all pre-determined for the most part on what Cast you're born into. Hinduism believes that how well you are in your current life and how well you do in your Cast position determines on what you will be in your next life. So if you're born into being a Bum and you remain a Bum, you'll be reincarnated as something higher since you lived a good life. If you were born into the "Untouchable" cast, it was believed that in your past life you were a very evil person or did something that was terrible.
Sikhism was founded by the Guru's from Hinduism by a gathering of people who didn't like the way the system was working. They believed that equality of life was more important then fulfilling your role in a pre-determined Cast. They believed that everyone should have an equal opportunity as a human being to live life to every person's utmost potential, whatever they chose.
From all my studies and readings, I have yet to hear Sikhism stemming from Islam. However, there has been a long history behind Sikh's and Muslim's with war.
It all started when Pakistan seperated from India and the land being divided...which still goes on today. Kashmir is the land they're fighting over.

Who are the dudes that only take 3 showers in their life time? 1 when they're born, 1 when they get married and 1 when they die.

However, sad enough, some of the Cast system has been held onto over the years and only within the last couple of years with the new generation of Sikh's do we see it being abolished. But our cast system was differently developed. If you were a Carpenter, you were one Cast. If you were a farmer, you were another. When it came down to marriage, often times they would look back at your Cast to see if your education and economics would be a suitable match.
But nowadays, that's all changing. If you're Sikh, you're Sikh. Which is the way it's supposed to be.

One last question, are all Poonjabis, Sikh?
As I said, in school I have alot of Sikh friends, some with a beard, and some without. Many look very Arab like in apperance. And I know they get picked on because people mistake them for Muslims.
One Sikh man was killed by an American thinking he was a Muslim.

It is sad that the appearances get mixed up. You'll notice that Punjabi turbans are a lot neater in appearance then Arab or Muslim headgear.

Sat sri akal ronny
First of as a Sikh tks ronny paji for clearing things up, i'm still pissed of and feel like writing crap like zoib did, but i will try to have more class. We are in fact classified as Aryans - just to clear things up, infact Hitler tried to use this to his advantage and tried to get Sikhs to join his clause, he actually believed that sikhs were going to come and defend him. There are many muslims and hindus from punjab that speak punjabi, and its my experience that they always try to hang out with the sikhs because of similiar interests, like bhangra music and so forth - we all usually get along but its peeps like zoib that get my blood boiling.
