This economy sucks ass! I am worried.

Well I am about to vear off course from my conservative views. This fuking economy sucks ass and it isn't getting any better. I see people losing jobs or being underemployed more and more. My industry has taken it in the ass because of overspending in foreign aid and cutting badly needed domestic infrastructure projects. We need to take some fukking oil as repayment or close our fukking wallet. Who gives a rats ass what the world thinks, they hate us already anyway.

It wouldn't shock me to see depression era type things happening and law abiding men and women breaking the law to feed their families. I pray for a total collapse of the economy or a shocking rebound. Floating around in this state sucks ass.

Chin up there buckaroo, everything works out in the end...

Unemployment claims lowest in four years
WASHINGTON (AP) — The number of laid-off workers filing new claims for unemployment benefits fell for a third straight week, dropping to the lowest level in more than four years.
The decline in jobless claims caught analysts by surprise. They had been forecasting an increase of around 12,000, reflecting a predicted bounce up after the impressive declines of 9,000 and 12,000 in the previous two weeks.

I know it seems to but I am very scared right now, I need some business. I need for our roads and highways to keep their funding for new construction.

My friend I don't know where in the US you are, but here in Chicago we have one season, we call it road construction season. Apart from that architectural construction, and renovation is spreading faster than I've ever seen. I hope for you things will pick up.

Well there are only a small number of projects that fit what we do. Mostly bridges over rivers and waterways with steel pipe 3' to 12' in diameter for drilled shaft casing. Huge bridge projects on a national level. These things are 200 million dollar jobs (not all my part) my part could be 250k to 1 million in sales.

Feel ya bro...I have been self employed in the Automotive Wholesale business for 10+ years and have done well. But sh*t has dam near come to a stop.

My problem is Jennifer Granholm ,Gov of MI. Her blanket PA's effect much more than what they proposed on paper. She literally is putting me out of business.

But back to your point on oil. GW wants an empire...he'll get his texas tea...and it will look as though it was given as thanks...

Really though if china is buying a lot of steel, which is jacking up the price, then the goverment might wait it out until steel goes down to start building bridges. Really people can point the finger at a lot of things but Welfare is one huge reason that never get's talked about. Also it crazy the number of these little relgious groups that are tax exempt?? Hell all they need to do is have a couple meeting and no tax??

I agree that they are postponing jobs for some of the reasons you stated. China is a factor but what hits the hardest is our tax dollars and deficit spending going overseas. If we are gonna defecit spend let's do it here. This is short sighted of me but I have a huge family to support , later won't work for my mortgage company etc....

The thing is I believe in everything we are doing and why we are doing it. And I believe it will serve its purpose IN THE LONG RUN! Right now it is very bleak and I don't see any improvement on the horizon. If I knew my job would improve I would vote for a canned ham right now.

What kinda ticks me off is that Bush comes out saying we need to overhaul health care and Social Security....he's the peoples champion and has the guts to atempt to do something about it......................anyone remember Hillary trying to get the issue of healthcare on the docket? How about all the money we had prior to Bush? What the hell happened to all that surplus?

Me no like accounting......thanks tho. The economy crashing was not G.W.s fault, how is adminstration reacted WAS. I have to say that the global economy is so weird anyway I have no idea if there is a simple solution. This first, best step is to spend some money at home.

No simple solution, macro is a complex topic and there are always several stories which will fit a series of events. But nearly always, the first solution is not to spend money, it is to eradicate deficit spending. Remember, when it comes down solely to monetary terms, some right-wing nutjob's special interest pet project (like hmm.....Iraq) is just as bad as any socialist's ideals.

Yeah it might sound funny, and I have been against victor1 on debates many times saying the economy is getting worst, but the bro does have kids, and a wife. For that reason along I don't find one thing funny about it. It's a serious issue many people will need to deal with.

some industries are doing worse some are doing better. bush sucks yes but the difference between dem and rep spending would be negligible in terms of immediate affects on the economy. lets face it when ur talking trillions of dollars they spend virtually the same amount of money its just the dems make sure that their constituates make money and vice versa.

I wouldn't count on it. America is a nation of consumers now, we don't manufacture JACK! What are we all gonna do? We can't all be in a service industry. This is something that has been a long time coming, this is not a party policy from one side that has gone wrong. The first worst step was NAFTA IMO.

OMG bro, say it isnt soo!???????
First of all saying a generalization like the "economy sucks" is silly bro. Saying the steel industry sucks is another deal all together.
Unemployment is a record low somewhere in the low 5's, Home ownership is at an alltime high, and last month the amount of jobless claims dropped. Overall Inflation is low, and interest rates remain low even though the fed has continued to hike them 1/4 point every month for the last 5-6 months.
Your sector is having a hard time because the Chinese are making a ton of it cheaper, and selling in to everyone at rock bottom prices. That is the result of a free market. If you could go one nutrition site that sold EAS whey for 40.00, and another that sold it for 20.00, where would you buy your whey protien? Free market economics bro.

My suggestion, find a new field. I am experiancing a similar deal in my field, and I have begun to look outside the box and find new ways to make money. In a capitalist society you must be able to overcome and adapt. Terrifs and additional taxes on imported goods are not the solution, being inovative, and smart are.

unemployment is low but certainley not at an alltime low. mid 90's it was 4% which is virtually 0 unemployment as those figures include people between jobs.
