Why this guy for Intelligence Czar????
What is Bush thinking??.....this guy is like an American Saddam
John Negroponte was ambassador to Honduras from 1981-1985. As such he supported and carried out a US-sponsored policy of violations to human rights and international law. Among other things he supervised the creation of the El Aguacate air base, where the US trained Nicaraguan Contras during the 1980's. The base was used as a secret detention and torture center, in August 2001 excavations at the base discovered the first of the corpses of the 185 people, including two Americans, who are thought to have been killed and buried at this base.
During his ambassadorship, human rights violations in Honduras became systematic. The infamous Battalion 316, trained by the CIA and Argentine military, kidnaped, tortured and killed hundreds of people. Negroponte knew about these human rights violations and yet continued to collaborate with them, while lying to Congress.
President George W. Bush has nominated Negroponte to be US ambassador before the UN. Human Rights organizations in the US and Latin America have joined their voices in asking the US Senate to not ratify his nomination. Please join us!

Hey Badger, this guys job is to to the "unpleasant" things that most of us don't want to know about. I'd rather have a pitbull than a puppy in this job.

So you want your country to turn into a bunch of barbarians like Saddam??......nice move.......a real bastion of freedom and righteousness.......turn into the types of people we loathe.

no Badger.........in life there are necessities, it's not as simplistic as you put it. Who would you want guarding your family?
03-08-2005, 09:12 AM #6
It is an interesting pick!!! The man will certainly be willing to do what needs to be done. Very polarizing tho. I can see both points clearly. But, with whats at stake I feel a man willing to do what it takes to get the job done is probably the way to go.

Guarding my family???......death squads "guard our families"??.....torturing prisoners "guard our families"........give me a fvcking break......all those kinds of actions create is more threat of reprisal and hatred towards US......

yes guarding our families..............break it down and that's what it comes to.
03-08-2005, 09:33 AM #10
NOOOOO.......it's more protecting a select few business interests.......HEY......and you all laud the post describing how the Arab was treated well by Israelis in the hospital and was converted to a staunch supporter of Israel ......and then you turn around and support a guy running the US intellegence who likes torture and abusing human rights.
Kind of flawed reasoning don't ya think?
03-08-2005, 09:36 AM #11
No....I just loathe un-American types like yourself.....why don't you move to Israel??.......
What exactly do you mean "Un-American". Isn't freedom of thought and speech completely American? If we do not agree with your ignorant rantings then we're un-American? You got a problem with Israel?? I hope not.
Or are you just another anti-semitic wad that needs to be enlightened with a little violence I'm happy to oblige. I am sick and tired of this anti-semitic crap. I have children that were born Jewish. We do not look Jewish hence we deal with a great deal of ignorance. So if you are that type of sh1tbag, I'll gladly see you rot in he11.

The ends justify the means Badger.................this is not a friendly, happy place (earth), get that into your head.
03-08-2005, 09:40 AM #13
Mondodondo........it's in reference to his splitting the American flag with an Israeli flag........not anti-semitic.......sorry if you got the wrong impression
03-08-2005, 09:44 AM #14
badger I feel u on this one but, brainwashing has done its toll. They will have to live in the 3rd world to understand true oppression and the damage of small ppoitocal moves made by the "ELITE"
03-08-2005, 10:00 AM #15
No problem badger.
Just PMS'ing I guess. People are very sensitive about our flag. I get his point, but I see yours as well!
Tired of the ignorance around here. A good argument is one thing but stupidity is another.
03-08-2005, 10:07 AM #16
Badger............if I had to choose between someone like you and someone like me when it comes to "handling" things I would choose someone like me. Sometimes people do what has to be done regardless wheter or not it completely agrees with their inner workings. Some people have to do what others are incapable of to help protect them from their own ideals. Would I kill 1 or 100 or 1000 people to save 100 times each of those numbers? Yes.

the ambassador usually has nothing to do with this, but now go ask the intelligence officer responsible for this country.
03-08-2005, 10:28 AM #20
Here's my take.......you have a guy associated with human rights violations and death squads......the very acts we as a nation associate with tyrannical regimes......the very types of government we despise.......and then we put this man in a very powerful position.
Isn't that like hiring Michael Jackson to run your day care center???
03-08-2005, 10:31 AM #21
You just don't get it do you Badger?
03-08-2005, 10:58 AM #22
I get it......you would allow Hitler to run your country if that is what it took to "protect your family"........you would allow a tyrrant to be in charge if that's what it took.....
I guess that's why you like GW.......
Personally, I believe the elevation of tyrants to positions of power is reprehensible and will ultimately result in the downfall of America as it did with Nazi Germany and Saddams regime.

Can anyone say McCain.........
03-08-2005, 11:23 AM #24
Mondo.......McCain would be good....it would make me vote rep again(like I used to)..but look at the way he was SLANDERED by GW in the primaries......another reason I dislike GW.......but I hear McCain supports Jeb.....which is scary.

Badger.................typical hysterical commentary, Hitler? Gimme a break.

Badger I see your point but I still stand by the choice to put someone in there with teeth. If not there is no purpose for that position to exist.
03-08-2005, 11:56 AM #28
That was BS. The guy should be appluaded for gettin some!!!!
If our president can do it why not him.......
He got robbed.....

McCain: Bolton the Right Man for Corrupt U.N.
Sen. John McCain praised Under Secretary of State John Bolton Tuesday morning, saying the Bush administration's controversial nominee to be United Nations ambassador is just the right man to clean house at the corrupt world body.
"I think John Bolton might be just what the U.N. needs," said McCain, who often sides with Democrats on controversial issues, in comments to "Imus in the Morning" co-host Charles McCord.

McCain then ticked off a list of scandals that have engulfed the world body, noting, "We've got the Oil-for-Food scandal, we've got misconduct in the Congo by the peacekeepers, we've got a whole lot of problems within the United Nations."
The Arizona Republican said Bolton was "a tough guy - I think he'll do a good job."
"I think that all of us agree that the United Nations needs reforming, and I hope that he'll work in that direction," he added.
McCain's praise stood in sharp contrast with the comments of his good friend and colleague, Sen. John Kerry, who blasted the selection on Monday, saying, "Quite simply, Mr. Bolton's nomination carries with it baggage we cannot afford."
Sen. Joe Biden said the Bush U.N. pick gave him "great pause," while Sen. Chris Dodd complained that Bolton's "antipathy to the U.N. will prevent him from effectively discharging his duties as our ambassador."
But McCain said Bolton's nomination "reminds me a little bit of Ronald Reagan appointing one of my heroes, Jeanne Kirkpatrick, as ambassador to the United Nations back in the 1980s."
Noting that her nomination was roundly criticized at the time, he reminded: "She turned out to be one of the absolute finest ambassadors that we've ever had."

All I notice is that you dont bother denying it
I cannot imagine Caucasian or even Militia speaking of the country they love in such a way - thats why I still respect them even if I disagree with much of what they may say
