Why did the roman empire fall
Just curious since that is a part of history I have never read much about.
Any historian here that can state the most important reasons that the roman empire crumbled?
A book about that could be a nice book club choise btw, since we could discuss paralels to the modern world.

Many reasons, I dont know this subject to well, but.
- Rome held more land than it could handle.
- Roman subjects were revolting against Rome, because they werent in touch with the people of foreign lands.
- Barbarians that used different tactics in war, than the Romans were used to.
- And Hannibal Barca.

Rome decided to throw itself in other aspects, instead of conquering lands they decided to do some ferrari, maserati, lamborghini! clothing versace, armani! Throw a new line of pastas, and cappucino, esperesso and conquer the world in another way!

Rome did occupy more land than it could control. Rome also had deep internal problems that ripped it apart. Toss in wars on many fronts and the constant pestering of barbarians along with piss poor leadership and the outcome is what we have.
We owe a ton to those ancient romans, they were extremely advanced compared to other cultures at that time and we have adopted many things left by them. The greatest civilizations of all time were the Romans and Greeks.

I don't know how much the contributing factors were, but
if you notice, the fall of Rome corresponded pretty much with
the rise of the organized Christian religion.
Just a thought . . .
