Jesus (PBUH) and the Roman Occupation.

This is a serious question for people that know the Political situation at the time of Jesus (PBUH).

    Did he accept Roman occupation?

    Did he fight Roman occupation?

Or did he not care either way?

You can fight without being physical. Politically and with your voice and opinion.

What about when he allegedly went off on the temple merchants and kicked them out?

    Matthew 21:12-13 (King James Version)

12 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,

13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves

This sound like the actions of a man who can put on the gloves when needed...

Of course I still think jesus is only a character in a book, no more real than harry potter or james bond... but you don't forget the stories after high school with the catholic brothers

as far as im aware, jesus never gave a view on roman occupation. he was there for one purpose, he knew that purpose (to be sacrificed), and he accepted that purpose. He never said anything about going against roman occupation. in fact when he was in the garden with some of his disciples, when the roman guard came to take him away, his disciples fought some, until jesus told them to stop, and he healed the roman guard that was injured. i dont know whether or not he cared, but his only "mission" was to be sacrificed for the sins of man. Now, the romans obviously saw him as a political figure. He was the leader of the christian church, a religion that went against the official religion. this obviously would cause trouble politically since the church had heavy influences. but jesus' reason for doing so, was not political, but strictly religious.

He that hath no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one. – the Bible, Luke 22:36

Here is one passage from the bible. I know it doesn't have anything to do with the Roman occupation, I'm just trying to further my own 2nd Amendment political agenda. Carry on.

Actually Jesus was Jewish and he was a Rabbi or Teacher. He did not go against the official religion, he went against the political aspect of teaching of the faith.

yes correct, he was jewish. but the jews denied him as he was revealed. and thus because of jesus, there came christianity.

what was the political aspect of teaching of the faith?

Well christianity came after the crusifiction, because they were teaching judaism until the rising of the lord.

The pharasees were teaching based upon pesonal beliefs as well as to control the populace. Just like I think Islam does to some of the followers now.

as i thought, we were talking about the same thing. jesus went against the religious leaders' teachings, referring to them as a "brood of vipers" and "whitewashed tombs" among other things.
