    Stephen Baldwin

    Stephen Baldwin

Baldwin, who became a Christian in the wake of 9-11 and through the witness of his wife, Kennya, has become outspoken about his new faith, co-producing a Christian DVD called, "Livin' It," aimed at the extreme-sports culture of skateboarding and BMX stunt biking.

"In my position, I just don't think I'm supposed to keep my faith to myself," Baldwin told a group of Texas Southern Baptists in 2004. "I'm just doing what the Lord's telling me to do. You know, if the Lord's not telling anybody else [in Hollywood] to [talk publicly about their faith], well, then God bless 'em. But I don't think that's the case. I think there are a lot of people who don't put their faith before everything else, you know. And that's a big problem. I'm just doing what the Lord's calling me to do. Period."

For the present, it appears, the Lord is calling Baldwin to trade in his skateboard for a camera and keep vigil at the new pornography outlet in his neighborhood.

Police report Baldwin called them Friday night at 9:30 p.m., saying the shop's employees were harassing him for taking photographs. They advised everyone the actor was free to protest as long as he stayed off private property.

"He's just out there expressing his opinion," Sgt. Gerard O'Connor said. "He's more than free to do that."

being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; - Philippians 1:6

for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Philippians 2:13

and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; Philippians 3:9

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

You will have no need to worry when you put your faith in Jesus Christ!

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

God will do the work to change your life.
Let Him by putting your faith in Jesus Christ!
Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, Philippians 1:27a

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself. Philippians 3:20-21

Of course, he's making money off of his religion, so he's got more incentive than most to keep up appearances . . . it's not like you or me who would be expected to put a few bucks into the collection plate when we show up in church.
Ya, get me a money-making opportunity, and I'll be glad to tell crowds of gullible church-goers anything they want to hear . . .

His appearance at the Youth Evangelism Conference included a plug for the DVD he co-produced with the Luis Palau Evangelistic Association aimed at the extreme or “core” sports culture of skateboarding and BMX stunt biking, an $8 billion a year consumer segment with its own counterculture music and often hard-edged lifestyle.

The “Livin’ It” DVD, which Baldwin directed and hosts, was released this spring, the brainchild of the actor and Palau’s son, Kevin; they conceived the idea last year after Baldwin attended a Palau organization event in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., featuring leading skateboarders who shared their Christian faith with youth attracted to the “core sports” subculture.

The 40-minute documentary features extreme sports action, footage of engaging street outreach and stories from 11 top “core sports” athletes.

The Palau organization planned 10,000 copies for a 24-month distribution; in five months 40,000 DVDs have sold, Baldwin said.

Ministry COSTS money. How is he supposed to reach that many people w/out money? They've reached more than 8x as many people as they thought they would by this time. He is leading people to everlasting life in Jesus. That is the work of the Lord.

It always seems fishy to me when someone is "born again" or becomes christian due to a catastrophy like 9/11 or something. To me it's representative of mental breakdown due to stress of an event, followed by irrational acceptance of an idea to make coping with the event easier.

I'm sure that he's keeping a % of the gross for his own personal expenses. Plus, he's keeping his face before his audience, which will definitely help him further his professional career, which in turn, means more $$$ down the road.

There's a difference between a personal religion and commercial religion. Personal religion requires only oneself and one's god. Commercial religion requires money and human organization, and is the sort of thing that turns malignant with power and influence and politics and human failings. Commercial religion raises rabble to fight crusades, spreads misinformation, and insists that everyone beleive the One Great Truth--or else. Yep, professional religionists are painful chancres on what would otherwise be life's joyful phallus.

Should a man not be supported for his work? So, I guess you just give all your earnings to charity, and live in a cardboard box? How can you pass judgement on him w/out any info as to what he recieves from this mission. You can't! It's pure speculation, and an uncovering of your motivation.

The Bible says it's our responsibliity to spread the good news. You didn't respond to my post in the other thread which is a good response to this one as well. Just because some Christians have done things that aren't right "in the name of God", doesn't mean that the whole thing is bad. You let the few bad apples spoil the whole bunch, and that may be true in the case of your current opinion........ but can a bad apple spoil the tree itself? NO.

The nature of truth is that either it's there or it's not. We may not always know what is true, or what is false, but it's there nonetheless. We can only make the best decision on the evidence that we have to go on.

It's sad that you attempt to make concessions for yourself. This is really what your arguments are always about.

The Bible does not deserve to be taken seriously. For starters, much of it was written anonymously, it is unverified, and much of what it says is unlikely to be true (talking animals, world-wide floods, the entire Exodus myth, etc). Given all that, why should anyone take anything the Bible says seriously?

Well, when you get a prominant anti-gay church leader saying things like "Jesus can cure Homosexuality," and then he's caught soliciting gay sex from a cop, that right there tells you that the guy is full of crap, and that his "medicine" is bunk.

From what I've seen, the average Christian is no better or worse than the average non-Christian, despite the years of sermons they hear and despite all the pious prayers they bleat. The really disgusting Christians are the ones who criticize others the loudest, like Rev. Jimmy Swaggart who got caught with prostitutes, Rev. Billy James Hargis, who got caught having sex with both a male AND a female student at his Christian school he was about to perform a marriage ceremony for, and that recent anti-gay preacher in Oklahoma caught soliciting gay sex. Each and every one of them had been immersed in the religion for a long enough time for it to have had its beneficial moral effects -- but no, even expert professional Christians aren't any better than you or me--instead, despite all of their supposed prayers and bible reading and virtue, they're just liars, cheats, and theives.

Doesn't say much for the Bible now, does it?

So, when you can show me that the Bible is worth half a crap, then I'll listen when you say, "The Bible says . . ." Until then, those 3 words mean nothing more than "The butthole of Zorg says . . ." or "Scientology says . . ."

Your comment is silly. Augustine said it years aga, never judge a philiosophy by those who abuse it.

Should I compare all atheists with hitler.
