Thread: Fatwa question

This is for any of our Muslim members that are familiar with Islamic Law: there have been a few fatwas issued in the past couple of years that seem very strange to me and very contradictive to Sharia.
It's one thing for UBL to issue a fatwa (even though he has no right to do so) against the U.S. in reference to killing Americans.
However, I am talking specifically about fatwas such as the following:
It is permissible to steal from non-Muslims or apostates in order to fund or further an operation.
It is permissible to use WMD.
Are those that issue these types of fatwas twisting sharia? It seems that the answer is yes. What do you think when a Muslim cleric approves theft.

In true Islam weapons that cause collateral damage are forbidden, and ste****g is forbidden obviously.
But anyone can be a cleric, that is why there are so many of these clerics running around, that twist Islam sometimes.

these days fatwas , are total BS .................... most clerics are not even educated enough to be one to be a sharia head , the true sharia islamic law is nowhere , all this is just BS !
in the time of war , it is permissable to steal or accomodate funds from your enemy , but its only in the state of war , muslims living in foriegn countries cannot steal from foreigners thinking they r their enemy and its okay to do so , thats not right !
WMD are not compatible with the concept of collateral damage , but it would be alllowed to use them if , a country does attack us with the same power , it becomes a tit for tat situation then !

The reason I posted this was because I read a report in one of my classes. The topic was the Madrid Bombings. Despite popular myths, it wasn't an al-Qa'ida attack. Rather, it was a group with no connection to al-Qa'ida whatsoever. They simply use the ideology and motivation from AQ. The terrorists of the Madrid cell were mostly criminals (literally...drugs, theft, etc) who became indoctrinated. So, according to a FATWA, which is a religious OPINION and NOT a decree, Muslims are allowed to steal from non-Muslims and Apostates. The Fatwa, called Ghanima, was issued in 1998. That was 3 years before 9/11. Many terror cells use this as a pretext for fundraising. That is, they need money for operations so according to the Ghanima they justify ste****g anything from purses in hotels and airports to cars, and even selling drugs. It's insane.
