    Best Lifts For Speed

i need to improve my 40 time. It is sluggish.

I know squats, sl deadlift, cleans, are essential for speed.

But WHAT OTHER lifts would help it out.

And besides lifting, how else would i go about improving my speed.

Deadlifts are useless for speed, they're a powerlifting, not sport specific exercise, don't even bother with them.

Keep in mind that if you're trying to increase your speed in the 40, you're going to have to do low-rep exercises frequently, and training like a bodybuilder OR powerlifter is useless.

Check out www.T-Mag.com and do a search for some sport-specific training. They have tonnes of articles and interviews with strength and speed coaches that will help you out more then we can.

Also, what KDawg21 mentione about core-strength is very true.

Remember that you heard it here first...

Regardless of what sport you're traning for, core strength is of utmost importance and should be priority number one. Instead of training abs bodybuilding style, serious athletes should be performing thousands of reps for their cores frequently.

Not hundreds, but thousands. You heard it here first.

    strength or endurance?

cuz a thousands reps would be endurance. right now, i train alot of weighted ab work , probably 300-400 reps every ab day(2x a week)
