Spend a lot less time loading plates, if you do squats instead of leg press.

Yeah Ranger5 but at least I get a shoulder workout unloading plates :-)

Seriously, I haven't squated since my mid 20's, legs grow pretty easy, leg press, hacks etc is all i need.

Quit kidding yourself leg presses are the easy way out. One session of squats will do more for your thighs than an entire session of hacks, leg presses, extensions, etc.

    WTF

The guy threw up some amazing weight.
Instead of being a punkass you should give him more encouragement not negative feedback.

You ever done a drop set on leg press????
That sht will make you cry.

The guy said he quit doing squats in his 20's
probably cuz of some joint problems. or doesnt matter why.

And leg press is not the easy way out!

Good luck, make sure you rest up!

My best friend did 800kg when he was 16!
HE is a genetic FREAK, god bless him!

    It was awesome to see.
They put all the weight they could on the leg press then had some dude sit on top of it!!!!
HE has gone through 3 hernias now, and is done lifting heavy, its sad cuz he is only 22, all natural, and he could have definitly been a pro powerlifter.
    Probably Worlds strongest man.

I can get about 500kg right now.
but havent been working out seriously for about a year now cuz of a spinal surgery!

    Keep us posted bro,
Tell us what you get next!

Thanks for the support and comments "phwSSJ".

Had two left knee op's both in early 20's, due to martial arts not lifting, knee is strong it's just I don't need to squat for leg growth and size. I don't think my legs have sufferd too much from not squatting since I am pressing some good weight and legs are about 30" and growing, sure my pics will show that. If people squat great, I will not diss them for not leg-pressing then...

As for rest I alternate weeks with legs, this week is different exercises and more reps, every second week I go heavy, next heavy session I want to attempt 700kg, that will be a first for me....I will keep you posted on my progress. BigFella :-)

One more thing, I don't see leg press as an easy way out, this is a powerlifting forum and I can assure anyone that I had to use a fair bit of "power" to push up 670kg 7 times...

It's been more than 2 weeks but I leg pressed 700kg/1540lbs tonight for 6 reps, personal best for me, did 12 reps on 660kg working my way up. Also hack squatted 260kg for 8 reps.
Will now have to rest my knees from that weight for a few more weeks I think.

Just had to let you all know again, LOL :-)

Thanks mate, although I am not a powerlifter I do get personal satisfaction from pushing myself in the gym as I guess all of us on here do.

I've done 625kg for about 2 reps with no wraps. Lots of guys cheat they go a few inches. I go almost touching the emergency stops.

I hear you, I usually wrap above 500kg and don't know anything else but to go deep, a few guy's where I train have their hands on their knees also for the extra push.

Great numbers!!!!!!!!! If you use the leg press correctly and it is set at the proper angle you can achieve great growth in both size and strength. Sounds like what ever you're doing you're doing something right. You can't argue with progress like you're making. I use leg press mixed in with my squats to help out in my powerlifting. For some reason when I squat, my lower back tends to give out before my legs do. I do have a strong back...it's just that my legs are much more stronger. I often use the leg press to finish exhausting my legs at the end of a long squat workout. Don't listen to these people that say that leg press is for sissy's or the easy way out. It is true that some people don't get the same benefit from leg press that they do from squating, but sounds like it is working great for you.

Keep up the awesome work and keep us up-to-date of your progress.

leg press numbers are amazing, but you have to admit the king and queen of all leg exercises are the squat and deadlift. it is a shame you have knee problems, imagine what you can squat?!?!!
