    EAS Bench Press Program

I was at the gym earlier and saw some little dude (180lbs) doing reps on the bench with 380lbs

I went over after he finished his session and asked about his training routine

He told me about the EAS Benchpress program

I'd never heard of it before but what he said sounded good

Anyway, i got home and checked it out on the internet

Loads of people swear by it

Has anyone here tried it? What were your results?

It does seem interesting though, even if, as Doc.Sust says, it isn't really geared towards powerlifting.

Might be worth trying out....Anyone one else have any experience with it?

Don't know about the bench program. But, if this guy really was doing 380 for reps at 180 bwt then tell him to get his ass in powerlifting. The winner of bench america in the 181s did 529 I believe. With a shirt this guy could be right up there with the best.

I still feel nothing has gotten me stronger than WSB methods.

west side has helped my press, but it always kills my deadlift!!! i have to deadlift to gain in the deadlift. goodmornings don't cut it.

Sure, basically, very similar to this:

I remember when I followed that 9 week program to the t(except a few changes becayse of lackj of equipment) first time. Best natural gains I have ever had.

Do you just use deadlift as a ME exercise or do you throw in rep work in the dl aswell somewhere?

To be honest with you, I do them for both ME and DE, I love dead's, and have never been bigger/stronger thanks to them. Wish I did them 2 years ago. Lately, I've been doing a ME day, and then a Volume (repetition) day... not really a DE day. Just what I've found to work well for me lately...

strongets I ever been was when I did shitloads of DL aswell. Used to start with regular deads as ME exercise and then pulls standing on a box for sets and some kind of pull on de days aswell as speed deads. Made my dead increase with 45 ibs that way.

Deads is fun, goodmornings is ****ing boring as hell

I will tell you one thing Doc, I have the same problem with west side training of rthe DL. When I train DL I get stuck at certain numbers for a while. Then I switch over to west side style training and it pulls me through plateaus! Then I get right back on the Dl doing both sumo and conventional styles.

Don't know about the EAS Program, but I have never had any luck w/ the Westside Stuff. I'm not saying WSB is bad.....just not for me.

This program looks pretty decent, I think I'll give it a shot. I am going to try and integrate it into my squats, and deadlifts as well. It's been a while since I've really hit it hard again, and I'm very eager to get some strength gains. I've tried similar programs to the WSB but didn't seem to work real good for me. Here's my info. I'll keep you guys posted on my progress and my results. I'm going to be doing plenty of cardio at the same time. I like to stay tone, and I am going to be lowering my BF%.

    Age: 26
    Hgt: 5'10"
    Wgt: 190
    BF %: 12
    1RM Bench Max: 315
    Squat Max: 400
Deadlift: not sure, haven't done these in awhile probably around 350.

Only supplements I'll be taking are protein, multis, and maybe a fat burner to go along with my toning. I need my abs back, I still got 'em but not quite as washboard as when I was in college.

    Later,

    Cdub
