I've just been reading about the lift on a couple of other boards. On one, some guy said that because the shirt used was open-necked it wouldn't count as a record. I'm just wondering if that is correct or not.

Kennelly's Open back denim is not WABDL legal, as the collar was cut open. Therefore, despite his success with the lift, it will count in the Top 100 rankings, but not as the WABDL world record.

Not sure how they will handle that. The event was a WABDL event, in which open-back shirts are not allowed. Ryan was a guest lifter there. I think it should count. He lifted under the scrutiny of judges, and his lift was passed. Just my opinion.

Chad:
Outside of the Top 100, where should it count?
Ermantroudt
Should count as the biggest bench of all time in the 308's, but I agree with your statements. For the lift to count in a federation, all rules must be met. I just dont want to take anything away from Ryan. He's one hell of a lifter. I am sure Ryan will do a bench of >800 and hush all the controversy.

Ryan's 800 does not count in the WABDL records. The open neck shirt is allowed because Ryan only lifts in WABDL as a guest lifter, not a competitor. The lift will count in the top 100, and as the highest bench in the 308's.
Ryan, congratulations! I look foward to watching you bench well beyond the once elusive 800 barrier!

Yes Ryan again Congrats!! But man 800 will only be around for another month or two. Right? Man before the top 100 comes out you will hit 825 plus.
800 bench! That's f'n nuts!
That is downright SCARY!!!!!! "Holy Powerlifter, Batman! Someone must be feeding this guy bolts of lighting for lunch!" :DQuote:
