If the shipping box is larger than my mailbox, my wife will get the package at the door and I will be in deep sXXt. Do most of the boxes that package say 4bottles fit in an average mailbox?

yes - depending on the size of your mailbox. no one wants to ship a big package thats for sure - for obvious reasons.
