Why do doctors prescribe regular Niacin?

OK, I've talked to like 5 people, all of whom were prescribed niacin for their high BP. All of whom were not given flush free. All of whom experienced flush. All of whom had to use harsher drugs. Does this make sense?

regular niacin is the most effective at helping cholesterol levels.

the flush free works when used in higher doses but not as efficiently

Hmmm, but since people always get the flush, why don't they just prescribe larger doses of flush free?

    Niaspan rules...

500mg gives me no flush at all, and worked great for cholestrol...I never heard of it being used for BP.

I also believe that flush-free niacin is different.
