I liked candied yams...but they have the potential to be really bad for you. Here's my recipe:
Candied Sweet Potatoes (real sugar optional)

1 or 2 packs of Splenda and some cinnamon does it for me. If I don't care about my fat, I will add a little butter.

    cut in half longways
bake em' in the oven at 200c for 45mins after rubbing them with olive oil - add what ever garnishes you want - great with fresh lemon squeezed over the top after baking

If you bake them they are sweet alone!

If I have a sweet tooth I use Sweet N Low Brown (like brown sugar) and ICBINB spray, tastes just like a candied yam

this is my favorite way to cook them. slice them down the center with the skin left on, put some butter in the middle and some onion and spice (misquite or something similar), wrap them in tin foil and throw them on the BBQ or in the oven.
Let me know what you think.

I like to cook them by leaving them at the store till they rot and have to be thrown out into a hot dumpster. Let bake at sun temperature for 1 week and upon arrival at the dump it should be just right for the seagulls to fight over.

You can cook them in the microwave for like ten mins. I just cook them (whatever way) then take out the gooey centre and rool them into small balls like when you make cookies and fry them, its like french fries in circular form, a nice crisp shell. Delicious.

Im in the same boat. I think they're gross. But that's just because I don't like sweet things...im more of a bitter, salty fan.

Does anyone prepare their yams, (or sweet potatoes), w/o added sweetener? Like with spices or herbs or anything?
