Flaxseed oil produces estrogen

Man I have often read about amateur bodybuilders that take and say sat it´s good to take flaxseed oil so I recently bought some flaxseed oil and today I read this and on some other sites that it produces estrogen. What the hey.

Honestly its not an extreme amount that is gonna be produced that can lead to acne, oily skin, etc. side effects. I personally would not worry one bit about it...other than the amount i take :-) .

Thanks. I guess that I can take my flaxseed supplement once a day without turning into a woman.

You really need to consider the source of information.

It is the Lignans( in the flax ) .. Lignans are phytoestrogens so they bind to estrogen receptors . .

But this is not a problem .. Because even though phytoestrogens bind to estrogen receptors, their estrogenic activity is very low .(. much weaker than endogenous estrogens ).. It is possible that they may actually block the effects of estrogen in some tissues.
