    Nizoral shampoo

I talked to my doctor today. I had never really heard of using this kind of shampoo for hair loss, but I had seen it mentioned here several times. The doc told me that it is an antifungal shampoo and that it won't help in the hair loss department. Just food for thought.

There have been small studies done that show it does increase the diameter of the folicle and works about as well as 2% minoxidil. These studies are available on the web. They are not large scale FDA studies but they are enough to give people a means to judge. Your doctor has probably not heard of these studies. You could print them out and take them to him next time. I am sure he would get a kick out of it.

It works for me too. It didn't completely stop the hair loss, but it has reduced it to almost nothing. Nizoral is available in 1% or 2% strength. Depending on where you live both may be attainable at a local walgreens or a pharmacy. Some locations require 2% to be "prescription" strength so 1% would be all that you could get OTC. I even got great results with 1% and some will say that 1% is proven to be AS effective as 2%. I've seen no proof other than my own experience, and it litereally worked wonders for me.
