Non invasive lipo technique called cold sculpting

GirlyGymRat turned me on to this information. I was unaware of it until she mentioned it to me!

    How does CoolSculpting work?

Fat tissue is more sensitive to cold than other tissues. Exposing fat cells to extreme cold for a certain time period can kill fat cells, thus reducing the thickness of fat under the skin. The fat cells that are destroyed by CoolSculpting are not replaced with new fat cells.

    Is CoolSculpting safe?

CoolSculpting is safe because the treated region is carefully monitored for precise temperature. Extensive testing has shown that cooling only damages fat cells, and other tissues at the treatment site are not affected. The dead fat cells are swept away and discarded by the body's normal metabolic processes.

What is a CoolSculpting treatment like?

CoolSculpting requires no incisions, needles or anesthesia. Since cooling is a superb way to produce skin numbness, CoolSculpting provides is own anesthetic by numbing the skin as it cools. The CoolSculpting device utilizes a suction cup that uses a constant vacuum to suck in a fold of fat. Each fold of fat is cooled for a 60-minute cycle. During the treatment, you can relax, read, use a computer, or watch a movie while the CoolSculpting device gently cools your treatment area.

    CoolSculpting Results

You may wish to browse through this gallery of representative before and after photos of CoolSculpting treatment results.

When will I see treatment results?

Results following a CoolSculpting treatment take a few weeks to evolve. In most patients, a noticeable and measurable result is fully developed 2-4 months after treatment.

Which regions are suited for a CoolSculpting procedure?

CoolSculpting is ideal for isolated fatty regions of the abdomen (tummy), flanks (love handles) and back roll (muffin top). Patients who are close to their ideal body weights, but have problem areas of excess fat, are excellent candidates for the CoolSculpting procedure.

I have loose abdominal skin, am I a CoolSculpting candidate?
CoolSculpting will not tighten loose folds of skin. Regions of excess skin along the abdomen and flanks are best treated with techniques that allow removal of skin, such as a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) or non-surgical treatments such as Thermage.
I have a significant amount of body fat, am I a good CoolSculpting candidate?

The CoolSculpting procedure is intended for patients with mild to moderate fatty deposits. For patients with more significant fatty deposits, surgical techniques such as liposuction are much more effective.

What is the recovery process for the CoolSculpting procedure?

Treatments with CoolSculpting take 60 minutes per treatment cycle. Since no sedation or anesthesia is required for the CoolSculpting procedure, patients can drive themselves home on the day of the procedure. There is no 'down time' associated with the procedure. Patients can return to work immediately. No compression garment is needed after the CoolSculpting procedure. Patients are able to resume their exercise routines immediately after the CoolSculpting treatment.

GirlyGymRat turned me onto another link, in one particular case, the procedure was $1600.

This has been around awhile but I have no first hand knowledge. I know that lypo leaves a nasty little scar, hurts like a bitch and is not overly affective.

There is a plastic surgery center, strip mall style, here that offers the same thing, their brand of procedure is called zeltiq, I talked to them because I have the worst time getting rid of the fat on my flanks, everything I was told by them goes along with what is posted above, BUT they said it only removes up to 25% of the fat in the area being treated, maximum, so they are basically setting it up from day one as a 4 treatment process, and it supposedly takes a minimum of 2 months before any results are noticable. And since they can't put any genetic markers in the fat cells to see if they are truly incapable of being replaced or regenerated, their claims are impossible to prove or disprove, I am told. In my mind, it's a waste compared to just doing the laser lipo for people who really want it that bad and cant stick to the gear/diet/cardio combo to get it done.

i know someone who had this procedure done to the "luv" handles bout 2 months ago. he is not overweight by any means, but gosh, I notice the difference (in his clothes and have no biz seeing him naked!). he did say that his skin is loose in the areas treated and that loose skin may tighten in time. he is happy with the results so far.

i am not a good candidate for regular lipo - not enuff bf in the stomach for a safe procedure according to plastic surgeons. This is an alternative for me, but not sure I want to make an investment. my last area to loose is in my stomach and luv handles (my tummy roll) but i can't say that i would want to deal with loose skin neither. i think loose skin is more visually unattractive then my tummy (little) roll. For some, that only have a little too get rid of.....perhaps this is an option, of course after exhausted clean diet and exercise.

TR, is this procedure something you would seriously consider???

BTW, i also read that fat cells will not come back to the area removed with lipo. however, likely if you were to gain weight after a procedure, you will gain in another location. I think would rather have my tiny tummy roll then lets say.....back fat. ewhhhh!

yes. you have to approach the treatment with the understanding that it will require multiple visits to the clinic. More interesting to me is if you received a price quote?

Yes. I consider everything. If the cost of this were low enough, say, only a couple of hundred per treatment, then it would get my attention.

interesting write up in Investor Business Daily this weekend on the company that does coolsculpting Zeltiq. The write up says dr's charge 500-750 per cycle. I know it takes more than one treatment, so I wonder if a cycle is for the multiple treatments. Interesting concept will be doing more research, mostly from an investment side I wouldn't spend my money on treatments like this.

That's the great thing about lipo: if you have everything done but your breasts, that is the first and pretty much only place that you'll gain fat
