    protein, glutamine, creatine?

I'm 21 and staying natural. I've been lifting for about a year and a half but just starting to really workout hard the last month. I know diet is the most important but as far as supplements I use whey protein, glutamine, and creatine. I can't really afford to go out buying every wonder supplement on the market so I was wondering if these 3 things are good or if there is something more i should be taking? Thanks

make sure you have a multi vitamen bro. .also you dont need the glutamine at all, there should be more then enough in your whey. and oh yeah. . .IMO i suggest you get your hands on some dextrose

yea i was about to say that from what i understand most protein we consume is glutamine (i could be wrong!), i personally dont rate creatine very highly either...it didnt seem to do much for me

    whey/multi vit/dextrose

possibly some extra vit c (i like to anyway)

The dextrose helps to produce an insulin spike, and insulin helps to shuttle things into your cells (things like creatine and protein). I would also say to drop the glutamine and get a good multi-vitamin.

Dextrose also is mainly used to restore muscle glycogen(fuel for muscles during lifting)

Brian, read not further Mr B is telling you da gospel truth. Could not agree more with the man.

    Whey
    Creatine
    dextrose
    multi

Take the dextrose and dreatine together right after your workout.

Definitely agree that there is a ton of info there.

I just buy gatorade powder for dextrose and mix in creatine after my workout.

THANKS ALOT, that is site is very informative, one thing though, they say to take it before working out and at regular intervals while working out. Should I be doing that or just taking it post workout with creatine?

I don't remember all the physiology, but you are not supposed to take dextrose WHILE working out because something like the sugar causes and insulin spike which prevents the release of growth hormone .

Anyway, when my trainer saw me drinking it during a workout, I was told to take it after.

Bet ya that DBarcelo can fix my science...

The amount of dextrose you take should be a 2:1 ratio of dextrose to protein.
