Casein is great, especially before bedtime. It is released over 7-8 hours. It is very slow digesting. It is not however good for a post workout shake.

    "protein box"? could you clarify?

in going along with what nsa stated, i always liked a protein high in casein right before bedtime. i'd use whey protein post-workout. based on the properties of each, thats how i felt they were best suited to be used

Im actually starting to contemplate drinking my first protein and last protein shake consisting of a mixture of casein and whey, instead of just whey. I have to have something show me that this will be more benficial than just whey protein, to justify the price difference i will be paying for using casein once more ED. Casein is a fair amount more expensive than whey protein.
