There are plenty of BCAAs in your protein shake, so assuming you already are taking in enough of that, you don't need to supplement with additional amino acids.

if you decide to take them i had the best results with the liquid aminos...they taste like crap but they work well. just take a shot before each meal and you will be alright.

As stated, you get aminos from protein and red meat has all of the amino acids that your body needs, but then you have to deal with the health concernes in eating a lot of red meat. It's healthier to just take amino acid suppliments, but the quality of the aminos is much lower. Also, amino acids, especially free form amino acids are very delicate and are easily broken down. You really need a form that is going to make it pass the stomach before being absorbed because the acids in the stomach will destroy most of the aminos and the majority of the rest will be utilized by the digestive system itself and very little if any will make it to the blood stream. Branch chained amino acids are more stable and better able to survive the digestive tract.

TwinLab puts out a really good liquid amino acid in a 32 oz bottle. Sip 3 tablespoons of that everyday and you're doing well.

Aminos are really important. Protein being the biggest one, but a multi amino acid could never hurt. L-Glutamine is great. Ive had friends who have seen alot of gains from amino acids although i havent my self, but my muscles rarely get sore while taken a amino acid supplement. Right now im taking a pill i believe its called Amino 2222.
