    Cool Best late night protein?......

I always get the urge for a late night snack, but don't know if it is better to consume some whey w/milk, or eat some cottage cheese (or some high protein food like that). Tell me what you guys think.

    Thanks,
    WTC

I drink a bottle of Zero Carb Isopure before bed...not the powder, the glass bottles that come in fruity flavors. They are hard to come by, I have them ordered at the gym, and they are a little pricey, but they are worth it!

Get some protein w/o carbs you can't burn the carbs off when you sleep so it will turn to fat.

Depends on what your trying to accomplish.

This really depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If you are trying for bulk you should be ok however if you are trying to cut I would recommend somthing that has little or no carbs ESPECIALLY late at night. Protien shakes as a general rule are loded with carbs. I am intersested in Strong Chicks reply. I currently take Isopure however I have never heard of the no carb drinks that she mentioned. I am going to have to check into trying to order some of that the next time I am at the supplement store.

You guys..whey IMO is garbage for late night nutrition. That stuff gets metabolized so quickly that your body is empty of nutrients before you even fall asleep. You need a slow burning protein such as any meat, eggs, cottage cheese, casein...with a little fat so it releases even slower. I have a piece of steak or chicken with some veggies so when i wake up, that night time fiber has a chance to do its duty.

LOL...just playin bro, I'm in a giddy mood tonight, as cosmo kramer would say...."Giddy up"

Gchild has a good point, so basically get a low low carb mrp, they're all whey. egg. casein besides muscletech's mesotech, and worldwide nutrition's pure protein.

what if you workout late at night and your post workout meal is also your last meal of the day?

surely a whey shake and simple carbs would be the way to go...

ISO AGB from AVOPhram is the best night protein. No carbs, no lactose, added Acetylated Glutamine, and Betaine. Can't beat it.

Micellar casein protein is the best before bed IMO, drip feeds your body protein for 7-8 hours.

I prefer taking some glutamine and eating extra lean ground beef. If you're dead set on having a shake, make it casein and NOT whey.

You could do some Isopure with just 3 grams of carbs... No big deal. At least you will have 50 grams of protein in ya... Good luck

I was told to say away from ion exchange (Isopure) by a couple of pros. One article I found was http://www.nutraceuticalsworld.com/marapr99-b8.htm

I mix flax with whey when I want to slow down digestion.

whey is fine, just add fat to it, 1.5 tbs flax to slow digestion.

Whey is absorbed way too quickly. You need something that will metabolize, ideally, as close to the eight hours you sleep. Casein, casein, casein, look for it in powder or bar, NO CARBS AT ALL!

bro whey is fine, cruise the diet forum and you'll find out most of them take 50g protein with 1.5g flax. the flax slows the wheys digesting wayyyy down, but casein is just as good.

Casein is simply milk protein.....this type of protein takes longer to digest....
i usually eat lowfat cottage cheese with a little pineapple or applesauce....the addition of the fruit keeps me from getting bored with cottage cheese.
