Someone asked this question not too long ago. There was some type of study on this that someone posted. Anyways, from what i understand is the 2 hours after your workout u can take in about 80g. Obviously, u don't just take 80 g in at once, u spread it out, and remember it take about 1/2 hour for whey to absorb. Also tons of carbs with a good mix of simple and complex help alot too. The carbs are just as important as the protein.
I take in around 50 g each meal, sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less.
Consensus seems to suggest 60 grams at one "sitting" as a MAX, with a hefty amount of scientific literature to back that up, if i recall. However, 'sitting' is poorly defined, if at all, and how soon thereafter you can begin to ingest protein once again, i'm not certain. I'm almost curious enough to make a trek to the library.
hmmmmmmm, so from what you guys have said 50 is a safe bet, cool.
thanks guys. If you guys find out anything else helpful, let me know.
TTTT.
I have heard about 50 grams every 2 hours. But I am not sure if this is true or not.
There's different types of protien. The amount of 'fast' protien (like whey) your body can handle at one time will be less than the amount of slow protien (like egg) your body can handle at one time. Thats because the slow protien doesn't get digested as quickly. I don't of any specific numbers but I do know there is a difference in the numbers depending on which type of protien you are taking. I usually stick with 40g per serving for whey.
spread out you r protein intake, i heard you can only take in 20-25 grams after your workout though
peace dude
