Yes it will help some, don't mix just plain old table sugar though. The sugar should be like Dextrose/Maltodextrin. Depending on the type of creatine you have, you'd be best off mixing the creatine and Dextrose/Maltodextrin into a post workout protein shake.
For some good mixing ratios, go to http://www.rellisfamily.com/abc/abc.htm and take the link for the PWO Shake Calculator. On top of the PWO shake ratios you get back, add 5-10g's of creatine.
gtxben is right, with plain creatine I like to mix it with welches grape juice, it will make it absorb better. Make sure you drink it right after training for best results
