    My ephedrine prediction

I will come back and bump this when it happens maybe 1 year from now.

According the to the announcement last week they said that supplement companies had been preventing the ban of ephedra over the years due to the money they were using to lobby to politicians. I am going to predict the true reason that ephedra was banned was not due to the money that supplement companies invested lobbying, but the money that pharmaceutical companies invested lobbying. My prediction is that after it is banned pharmaceutical companies will come out with it, prescription only, through a physician. It will be revealed that ephedra is not as deadly as they thought, as long as it is taken correctly. (Oddly enough supplement companies give all of the warnings on the bottle and the deaths are usually due to people not following the directions and/or taking the ephedra based products when the label tells them not to.) I don't have a time frame because if the supplement companies take it to court to fight the ban, this will all be delayed.

Man after I heard that they were gonna try to pull Ephedrine off the shelves, I got panicy, and bought a **** load of it. I even went to our local health food store and signed a waiver they were petitioning to some of the lobbist to try and stop the ban.
So Jason tell us, what do you think is going to happen? Are they gonna pull from the shelves? I noticed some of the chain stores like Wal Mart and some grocery stores here are pulling from the shelves already.
I am all with you on this one Jason, I think it is stupid a?ses who abuse the suppliment and causes people to say that it is bad because of it. Just like anything else. Hell if you take an overdose on a multivitamin you will die. I think some of these people need to get a grip.

Personally I think it's too late to stop the ban. It is out of the public's hands and it will be left up to the lawyers now. I don't know if or how hard the supplement companies will fight in court (if they do at all) and I don't think they can win anymore. The politicians have this wrapped up and I have a feeling that pharmaceutical companies have paid a pretty penny for it. Honestly, why do politicians care about ephedra??? More people die from Tylenol every year than ephedra, think about that. Seriously, think about that. Now think about the people that die from cigarettes every year. What about alcohol. Do you see something here? They had how many cases of death that were attributed to ephedra (in all honesty because I don't believe it is fair to count the death of Belcher as one of them [the biggest excuse for all of this] because even though it was tragic, he simply abused it). Please don't take any of this the wrong way. I know that ephedra has the potential to be deadly, but so does a pair of scissors when you don't handle them carefully. I truly wish the politicians thought about what they were saying when they passed this law. I truly hope this wasn't about them getting their pockets lined with money, but unfortunately I think it was.

So back to what you were asking me. What will happen? Well one of two things will happen. It will either be challenged or it won't be challenged. If it is challenged this whole thing could drag out for who knows how long. If it is not challenged, in 2 weeks they will issue the final statement saying that everyone must have ephedra pulled from the shelves within 60 days. Everyone will continue to stockpile until that day and if anyone is caught selling it after that, the government will come after them for trying to sell an illegal substance. Most supplement companies who manufacture ephedra based supplements have been contacted telling them that they will have to cease selling it, but there are still supplement companies that have not gotten a letter yet. So worst case scenario, mid March, you will no longer be able to buy supplements anymore. They have scared the public with twisted statements that everyone that doesn't know the facts will support it being banned. The general public (majority) do not know what we (minority) know about in regards to this supplement. They take what they are fed and spit it back out. I get it all the time. "I heard that ephedra kills you and it's illegal now" Even a local news station said, "Ephedra has been banned, if you have any, take it back to where you purchased it."

It's done everyone. Ephedra will go underground and we will be criminals if we use it. I don't see it being any different at this point.

Yup I am with ya, looks like it is all about the money and politics as everything else is in this country. Well just gives the underground companies to make a butt load of money. And just imagine the new spammers advertising it. Lord knows I get a hundred bazzion emails a day about viagra. Just think when ephedrine goes under! Really sucks because in my opinion was one of the best over the counter fat burners I have seen. I just placed an order with you Jason I hope you get mine to me LOL! I hope I dont' get one of those letters that you send with my order saying, "Your product is not availible or is backordered, a credit has been issued". Then I will be sad. See I am already sad just thinking about it.

I agree with you guys 100% on this one. I bet that Merck Pharmaceutical or some other company will come out with the exact idea that you proposed they will. You gotta love the all mighty dollar that runs the world - especially the US and the somewhat crooked politicians!
We should have ephedrine available for a few extra months in Canada but once the US makes it official I predict that Canada won't be too far behind. We went from 25mg per tab to 8mg per tab and soon - Not Available!

**** those pharmaceutical companies trying to gain a bigger market share.

Yup, pharmaceutical companies are making a freaking killing right now. I know the rep here that actually sells Oxycotin.. She makes over 150k a year just being a rep for them and they have over 30 reps just in our state! Maybe I need to change my career? Maybe a ephedrine drug rep? Sell to all my AR buddies! Make a killing!

It's ridiculous...it's helped out so many people...and just because 180 people **** up and abuse it/misuse it, it's ruined for the rest of us. I mean think of how many people tobacco has killed in the last year....450,000 people...Why the hell won't they make that illegal? Every one person that died from ephedra products, 2500 died from tobacco products. This will be my first time using them, when spring comes...Hopefully I won't be # 181 .

Hoss, how old are you? You need to wait until you are at least 18. Follow the directions please.

Maybe 2 - 3 years. There should be an expiration date.

It's always about the money, no one is really looing out for our health. They are looking out for money, money and more money. This isn't a plug but read Bill O'reilly's book 'Who's looking out for you' a very good read.

    Peace

Oddly enough, Hoss also hit the nail on the head with Ephedra vs cigarettes. I wont get into details but it makes sense. They dont ban cigarettes and there have been longer studies and the death toll is not even chartable.
Good thread. All political money. I hope it is appealed just to show politicians that the people are starting to voice and stand up for what they want now adays instead of just dropping it cause it takes too much effort to fight it.

i work at a health food store and from what i understand ephedra (da herb) and NOT ephedrine (the synth **** they use to make drugs) is going to be banned. i could be wrong. my store sells pure ephedrine (you need to show an ID and alot of other ****) as well as ephedra products and i know we will be selling epehdra till the day that is mandatory to remove it. also guess what!?! a new product is going to be hitting the shelves sometime this year- it's derived from coffee beans- some sort of super cafeine with hardcore thermogenic properties (however supposidly more side efffects). the point is that it will be the next hot thing till it gets banned.

Yes, overall most of us are here because we want to continue to get bigger. But they are times that we like to cut down (such as getting ready for a bodybuilding show) that ephedra based products help us out.

Yeah bro..when's your next contest coming up? Oh, and to answer the other guys question...Yeah, we want to be bigger, (lean mass) but think of it this way...you have to have a big block of granite, but then you can cut it down and make it all pretty . And you repeat the process..and eventaully, you're gonna be "one hunk of man!"

Just agreeing with a lot of what has been said. Just a bunch of people voting on a substance they know nothing about. It would be that same as if I had to vote on banning something like... Midol, because a few women have overdosed on it. I know nothing about it, I just heard a few people died on it, therefore it must be bad, right?

Annoys the heck out of me. I've written to my reps, can't help but feeling like its useless, but who knows. Check out sites like http://www.usfa.biz to learn more about things like this and other CURRENTLY legal supplements. There's a few other sites out there too.
