    Questions on Amino Acids

I was told by a specialist that the three amino acids are most effective when taken together, especially under the stress of working out the muscles. The amino's are:
    L Arginine
    L Ornithine
    and
    L Lysine.
Can someone who is well knowledgeable and/or experienced tell me what these amino's do for my body and if it is necessary to take together?

    Thanks a lot.

I haven't heard anything about those 3 aminos together, but I'll offer what I have heard.

Some people have taken arginine for an increased "pump." I haven't tried it, so can't comment on how good it would work.

Actually, now that I think it, aren't those 3 aminos sold together as a sort of pro-GH formula? If that's what it is, then I'd say B.S. Not worth it IMO.

The only aminos that have benefit as a supplement to your diet are 1)glutamine (for muscle recovery etc.) and 2) branched chain amino acids (leucine, isoleucine and valine) which can reduce the amount of protein breakdown when your body is in a catabolic state (dieting, etc). BCAAs have been used in hospitals to reduce protein breakdown in trauma and burn patients...
