    First week of creatin use..

I have just completed my first week of creatine use and according to the scale I gained 8 lbs!!!, now I can attribute at least 1 or 2 of that to an unhealthy weekend at college but 7 lbs, is that all water? because I dont look much heavier. The whole purprose of creatine is to have more bursts of strength right?

Does creatine make you retain water?

No. Creatine draws water from the body to do its work. There is a difference between cell volumization and water retention. Cell volumization leads to more water inside the cells, making muscle bigger and firmer. Water retention, the process that makes the muscles look smooth, happens outside the muscle cells.

My opinion is that the first gains from creatine are mostly water.
