Cardio after lifting.
Heres my goal. I am not using any AS. I want to cut fat and not lose much muscle from doing this. My question is can i lift in the morning and then do 45-60 minutes of cardio after on and empty stomach to drop fat. While maintaining most of my muscle?
I would be lifting 4 days a week and doing cardio 5-7 days. Any thoughts?

I would do am cardio on an empty stomach and lift weights in the pm.
Lifting then cardio on an empty stomach - seems like it would be catabolic to me. Just my $.02

Yeah I agree, cardio in the morning on a empty stomach worked for me.

Woww..... you need to read before you post stuff like this. There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing morning cardio on an empty stomach as long as you do the right kind of cardio. You need to do fat burning cardio which is done by staying in your target heart rate. Best is 40-60 minutes 1st thing in the am on an empty stomach at 65-70% heart rate. You can figure this out by taking:
220 - age * .65
220 - age * .7
As long as you stay in this range your body will use fat for energy and not muscle. Glutamine will help prevent catabolism if you are really worried about it.

I have found that cardio in the AM, and workout in the PM is by far superior to working out then doing cardio. More energy for both the work out and cardio along with maximum fat burning properties. IMO the empty stomach theory works wonders.

Yep, it works for me too, I normally do my jogging in the am with an empty gut and lift late at night.

no problem doing cardio on an empty stomach as long as you stay within your target range. and like most of the people said, do cardio on empty stomach in the AM and lifting in the PM, however, if you are unable to do a split schedule of working out 2x a day for some reason you are better off to do lifting followed by cardio so that your muscles aren't fatigued for lifting. you will see better results by splitting it up though.- Sweat plus sacrifice equals success. - Charlie Finley
