    dum bell dead lifts

Are these worth doing? I can't do bb deads, because of my back, but the ohter day I tried db deads, and my upper outer back is sore as hell. I liked the deads because they really made my traps explode, among other things

2 db's, one on each side of you, not in front. Simply bend down, touch the db to the floor and up again.

You can't possibly use enough weight for it to be an effective exercise.

may be expensive but if you could buy yourself a shrug bar you could use that for a variation of a the deadlift. I guess if db's work for you then use em, if they dont then dont. realistically you wont be able to lift as much, and as they have smaller plates on them you will have to start lower to the ground. Personally, when i lift db's in the way youre referring to (so i can then shrug them) I find almost all the work is done by my legs and not by my back.

Like prime said... the deadlift/trap bar would be your best bet. even at 200lb dumbells (which most gyms dont have) you can't get enough weight.

****!!!! Not what I wanted to hear guys. I reallly love deads and feel that there is no other way to build my traps without them. I mean, my traps just exploded with size from Deads, hell my whole back did,(the 700mg of prop probably helped!)

So the consensus is deads with db's are worthless. Becaue they don't target enough of your back, or becasue theie is not enough weight to make them effictive?

I have to telll you, my upper back / lower traps are sore from doing the 110 db;s.

YOu also have to remember 325 x3 is my best deadlift, so even if there was 200 pound dbs, I don;t know if I could use em.

So the problem here is weight? It is effective, if you could get enough weight.

What kind of Deads are you referring to - Sumos... or perhaps Stiff-Leg?

A db in each hand at your side. Bend down at the knees and stand up straight.

Just like a dead only your hands are at the side of you and not infront. This takes all the stress off your lower back, and also, doesn't really work your lower back like bb deads. Buy it does seem to hit your uppper back/ traps.

Sounds more like a squat with dumbells... Only you are able to pull the load off the floor versus lifting it while resting on your back...

If you like these and are able to obtain progressive results in your training - than go for it... personally I don't see much use for them...

I would just use the bar bro with less weight if you have to. Otherwise you are doing squates.
