    Does walking increase stamina?

Does walking increase stamina or is it just good for weight loss? Let's say I've never ran before, should I start with walking 3 days a week for 20 minutes on the treadmill and than gradually go into running after a couple months?

Basically I'm asking does walking help for stamina?

Walking can be good for stamina but it has to be a fast paced walk for a prolonged period. I used to walk some 14 miles per day, then I'd ride my bike for some 14 miles per day. I really shouldn't say per day, because it wasn't every day, but on the days I did walk or ride my bike (once or twice per week). I had athsma and I worked it out of my system. My body got used to coping slowly but surely. My stamina was great. I even started jogging for a couple miles.

We walk around all day.. Does it increase stamina?? I my get some negative feed back but the answer is NO! You must increase you vox output which is done by an increase of heart rate. So maybe a fast pace power walk will help. Walking will only MAINTAIN stamina at your current capacity not increase it. By the way do you see overweight people loose the fat just by walking??
