    Running treadmill on incline

Does anyone here run the treadmill on an incline?

What is the benefit of running on an incline?

What is a good incline to run at? (2,3,4?)

Adding incline helps to make it more difficult to maintain your speed, thus upping your heartrate. If you are doing an actual cardiovascular workout this helps because you want your heartrate up high and when you have high cardiovascular fitness, sometimes you can't run fast enough to keep your heart rate up. Adding incline helps to keep the speed at a resonable rate while helping to maintain your high heart rate. It also helps with speed interval training, and less so for fat burning.

Since you want to keep a slightly elevated heart rate for fat burning, it can help to raise the platform and walk rather than keep the platform level and run. Makes it easier to maintain the hr within the narrow fatloss band.

I've gone up to 10%, but that was doing true cardiovascular workout. For a fat burning I usually don't go higher than 4-5%.
