I used to have a gap there, but after working them hard as hell doing regular exercises (flat, incline, decline BB and DB) they now smash together in the middle. Pushups also will help.

my pecs have a gap about 3/4 of an inch wide between them. Thats just where my muscle are attached. Some people arent fortunate enough to have pecs that have no gap. You sound like you may be in the same boat as me. Theres nothing you can do but just work with what ya got. If you post a pic i could probably tell you for definate either way.

here is a fun exerice I use to do for pushups... First Id start with 10 pushups a minute for 20 minutes.. If that was too easy, then nest time bump it up to 15 each min for 20 mins.. Or do 20 a min for 20mins... But you got to have a clock right in front of you..

there was an interesting post awhile back talking about this. the gist was that the muscles in your chest run horizontally, therefore you can work on each striation, but not certain parts of those striations. in other words you can concentrate on upper, middle and lower, but not so much inner and outer. like was mentioned above genetics have some to do with it, and just building your chest more.

My outer peak are huge, but as the meetin in the middle they do dip in good and proper.

So, what exercises can I do to build the lower striations?

All the chest exercises will close that gap as you add mass. It is very important to squeeze at the top of all your chest exercises. That will pump the blood into the area you want to build.

Also, end you chest day with cable cross overs. They will engorge your chest with blood and give you a pump that will close that gap. Hold the peak contraction for 1-2 seconds.

All chests are different, but as you add muscle the gap will close.

You can't move the stress inner/outer the chest but you can move it a little up and down...

So just gain mass on the chest, then it might come...

    It's genetic...

Yeah my genetics in the chest area suck balls. It sucks 'cause I want to compete, but if I can get freaky mass in there the gap between the muscles will be hardly noticable (hopefully hehe). But starting last week I change my ways, I'd always use chest as like a "show of strength" in the gym, and I got to 405 at 195 all natty, but while it was the strongest muscle I had, it was the least pleasing to the eye. Now I let my ego go and don't care anymore and am just gonna go for a good pump and proper reps and squeezed contractions.

I usually star off with cable cross overs, do flies then bench press.

    Shall I reverse the order?

    I would

bench is a mass builder that should be done before isolation movements

if it is indeed mass that your after, in which case i would get rid of the flys and add dumbbell press

cables are good though - u get to really squeeze the inner chest

I would too. The compound exercises add mass. At the end of your workout you use cables to pump blood (and nutrients) into your chest to help growth.

To build your chest your need a flat exercise (barbell or DB), incline (barbell or DB), flys because they work the area between the pec and the front delt that you need to push off the bottom of a bench press and then the pec deck or cable to pump the blood.

Pick your four exercises do them for three months, then switch something up to keep your body guessing.

Work hard. You will have an awsome chest.

    Great advice guys!

I try to limit myself to 3 chest exercise, then do 3 tricep exercises.

So I'll think I'll go for, in order: bench press, dumb bell press, then cable cross over.
