I think you speak of placing two benches parallel to each other and slightly more than leg length apart and you sit in the middle. Put both feet on one bench and both hands on the other one. Your body should form a 90degree angle and lower yourself with your triceps almost to the floor then press back up. You can have a partner add a wieght plate to your thighs for more resistance.

A waste of time IMO. Dip using parallel or V-bars, the bench dip is a goofy motion and puts your shoulders in a horribly disadvantageous mechcanical position.

    Amen.

To make them even more pointless, in order to get enough weight on your lap to make bench dips worthwhile, you have to risk losing your nuts forever. Stacking four-five on your balls is ridiculous.

    Do dips.

I actually like the pumps I get from bench dips but it takes a lot of weight on my lap to get those pumps. I feel it hits the tri's from a diffrent angle. My gym is lucky enough to have a hammer strength dip machine that I like to use every now and then.

Bar dips used to be one of my all time favorites but I haven't done them in months and I just tried them a week or two ago and I honestly couldn't even get one. I was so shocked. I think it had something to do with my shoulders and chest being exahusted from earlier in the workout (DC Training).

If you righteously thrashed your chest and back before trying, I can see it happen. Been there, done that.

Try them first thing your next work out. You'll feel better about yourself.
