    Ab workout question

    I just started working out with a partner who is experienced in weight training.

    For my ab workout, he has me hang on two bars with my feet off the ground while he does chops on my abs with his hands. (with the sides of his hand) This is a tough workout. He states this will make my abs stonger.

    Is this an appropiate workout technique? Thanks in advance for your input.

    Bascially that amounts to isometrically contracting your abs to take the beating from your partner. Yes, isometric contractions will make your abs stronger. I would go for more concentric/eccentric actions. Sit-ups, reverse cruches, leg lifts combined with a crunch, get a physio ball to perfrom crunches/sit-ups on. Do leg throws with a partner, decline sit-ups, hanging leg raises, planks, and the list goes on.

    Thanks for the input on the ab workout. I was going the extreme way....will do your suggestions.

    I've heard of these advanced techniques before, just wait till you do glutes - he's gonna kick your A55!
