    I feel stupid asking but...

What is the weight for a standard olympic bench press bar? I thought it was 45 pounds but I can't remember.

Is that it? Nothing about dangers of chrome hardening process raisning chances for breaking? I guess it's just plated and not chrome induction. Sorry, I'm a gear head.

the reason i take iron over chrome is because, when i chalk my hands up, the grip is better on iron, especially when your hands start to sweat.anothing thing is that, most iron bars ar 1" while most most chrome bars are 1 1/4". i like using the thinner bars, gives me a better grip and better control. iron is also stronger than chrome, and it doesnt flake like big mike said.

Are the bars really iron, or are they steel? Seems like steel would be a better application, stronger, less brittle, less corrosion etc.

**** if they were in iron, it would snap like a match when heavily loaded. its made of steel, i would never bench heavy with an iron poll
and yep the chrome bar is just plated. induction plating are reserved usually for hydraulic cylinder rod. LOL i dont see any utility for a surface hardening on a lifting bar
