Maintain a more erect torso.
Yea, if your arching or rounding your back with heavy weight that will do it. Your spine is not in alignment or you have some chiropractor issues.
id work on making my back stronger... do abs alot to..
thanks guys, i was arching my back too much
do you use a weight belt?
I noticed that when I was useing a weight belt that my entire core was tight and in cintrol, but the second that came off I was a freaking mess.
I figured out that it was because I had a horrible stomach. The solution to this is to strengthen your gut muscles and your back problems will be reduced greatly.

surprisingly i can do 5 sets with the smith machine no probs
That's because you do not have to lean forward on a smith machine to compensate for falling backwards. The smith machine has only one line of motion, up and down. Therefore, you can maintain a perfectly erect torso without the fear of busting your butt!!!
yeah i know what u mean
trouble is my new gym doesnt have a smith machine so my back is killing me with these free squats
even if i pre exhaust them with extensions and leg presses so i am using half the weight i would usually use on the squat - my back still f"cks up
